So it's a 1HZ with r151?
What transfer case?

Is there a turbo in the works? Intercooler?

...via a tiny telephony device and large thumbs.

wonder if you have re gear in your future plans .. ? 100+ pounds per corner sure didn't help in the mountain passes ...

do those size tyres rub anywhere with only a 2" lift ?
in regards to the rims , what series cruiser where they off , a 200 series with a 60+ off-set or a 76 series with a 0+ off-set ?

thanks for sharing the pic's

R151F + SPLIT CASE.

For now I'm quite happy without a turbo. I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere;)....in all seriousness, I am not sure I can stomach doing this to a new motor. I have a HZJ80 with a rebuilt motor at nearly 500,000km so I'd be looking to do that first and see how it goes.

I'm going to be deciding on that once I get enough mileage on the truck to see how she performs. I do want to keep highway rpm's down though. I cant confirm it, but I think factory gearing is 4.10 on the 79 series. Say I regear to 4.53, would that help with climbing up the mountain passes without raising my highway rpm's too much? We dont normally go faster than 100-110km/h on the highways.

No rubbing with the set up at full articulation or full lock.

As for rims, Beno helped me with the part numbers. Wouldnt be able to help answer regarding offset..hopefully Beno can chime in. See link below

Good lord that truck is beautiful! Every time I see one driving around here in Uganda, I drool. My 80 is old, but I wouldn't trade anything for the 1HZ in it.

Well I ( I mean IMHO ) would like to re gear to 4.56 at least and add a turbo at least .. but that's me .. I don't drive faster neither, but I like the ability to keep a constant speed ..

hi booze, factory gearing on hzj79 is 4.30.

Beautiful rig .....
Thanks for the photos.
Would love to see the interior.

And then last weekend we hit Wadi Rabigh again, and did a few deep water crossings.

Next up I stumbled on this cool image on instagram of a shop out in the East Coast of the US that makes a very functional solution for the useless ARB bumper spot light location.

This is the image I found, and after getting in touch with Matt at Main Line Overland, who was super helpful, within two weeks the light pods were shipped.

The pods as they arrived.

Everything comes assembled and ready to be bolted on

The quality is outstanding

The fit was perfect, and installation was a breeze. Just mount the pod, drill the holes and voila

They're a standardized item that fit all the ARB bumper slots.

The switches for the spots, the light pods, and the rear camp site lights.

Next up I mounted a propane canister using the Front Runner canister clamp

The Powertank mounted at the other end

The rear set up

I also routed both diff breathers to the engine bay

And last but not least, I ordered a set of bonnets struts as the 70 series do not come with any. The bolts all line up in original factory bolt holes that are unused in the engine bay, except one bolt hole that needs to be drilled on the underside of the bonnet.

The top bolt is in a newly drilled location, while the bottom one can be seen as part of a two bolt bracket that normally holds the bonnet hinge.

A shot of the N/A 1HZ motor

WOW, nice gear w/ lots of options.
