(2) The audio always shuts off when I put in in reverse. These is a setting in Settings...General...User Settings to activate or disable this function but that setting makes no difference, it always shuts off in reverse. I wish it would stay on.
Got this one fixed! Sergey Kozlov, who sells firmware updates for these systems, (links to his facebook contact info are on other android threads in this forum) let me know that I had to set Settings...User Settings...Parking Sound to On. I was changing a similar sounding but different function in User Settings. Now the audio no longer shut off in reverse. I think I will try his firmware update for my system.

But he had no advice for my daytime dim dash and no video out on the back display port connector.

(3) With the system installed, my dash instrument lights are ALWAYS dim like I have the lights on at night. So in the bright sun I basically can't tell what the speedo is indicating. I'd really like to get this fixed. I bought the factory Lexus wiring diagram book and found a wire described as "DIM" on one of the factory plugs but it seems that this pin has no wire connected to it from the Tesla screen head unit harness side... Any help on this one would be wonderful.

SOLVED!! This is probably specific to the 2003 LX. There is one connection shown below.
TeslaBadConUnplugged.jpg

Sockets are on the LX harness. This is connector R6 "Rheostate" on the Lexus wiring diagram. The plugs are on the harness that came with the Tesla head unit. There is a different number of pins but it fits as shown below.
TeslaWireBadConn.jpg

I simply had to unplug this connection and leave it disconnected. Now my dash lights properly dim at night with lights on but are bright in the day. Also the Tesla head unit still goes into bright day mode and darker night mode correctly now.

(1) It was advertised as having HDMI output for rear entertainment video, but the back panel has a display port connection. I have tried several monitors and both active and passive display port to HDMI cables but I have never got any video output. There is a setting accessed by Settings...General...User Settings to select either the whole screen or just the video to the output but this setting doesn't seem to do anything as there is never any output as far as I can tell. Rhino radios email support told me they don't support this function so no help there. I paste a picture of my back panel below for reference. I also paste pics of labels on the Power Cord for the Tesla screen head unit as this might help to identify exactly which Tesla system I am working with. I bought new head rest monitors and was excited to get this working but no go so far.
Got this fixed, posted in the general discussion as its probably not specific to the '03

Get your soldering iron and heat shrink out (or butt connectors if they're your thing). This is how to fix the audio portion to work with a factory amplifier.

I cannibalized this harness to make this work. First step is to cut off the red and white RCA connectors.

Then, prepare the wires for solder. Take note that this is shielded, single-conductor wire. So strip it once, pull the shielding aside and then you'll need to strip it again to get to the center conductor.

Then cut these four wires (gray, gray/black, white & white/black) that run between the black connector that connects to the new headunit and the white connector that connects to the vehicle.

The center conductor in each of the wires is the positive lead. Solder or crimp the wires together using the following "key":
FL - White
FR - Gray
RL - White/Black
RR - Gray/Black

Then twist all four of your grounds together and solder them to a piece of extra black wire (18-20awg is fine). In the newest harness that was sent to me, there was a pink wire connected to the white connector for power to the external amp. If you don't have this wire, you'll also need to solder a wire on to the gray wire in this "low-voltage" harness.

Thank you for you guide, my harness is a bit different. I don't have the gray wire for power? My AMP is not getting power, any ideas?

Bought mine here. Took almost 3 weeks to get delivered after purchase (came all the way from China)

It was completely plug and play. I didnt need to do any splicing. HVAC and steering wheel controls work. I have a 2003 LX 470 with Mark Levinson system and factory Nav. I am not sure if I have a different type of factory stereo harness as it didn't look 100% the same with the OP's factory harness. I also followed @Try2Bfast suggestion to leave that one connector unplugged for the dimmer to work.

4 physical buttons don't work but I can live with that. It is very responsive.

Sound quality is good once you get the settings dialed up.

Picture above is right after installing it. I have now since updated the Boot logo and wallpaper to the proper LX470 pictures.

Would you be able to share those audio settings? At higher volumes mine sounds distorted

@CBeckFJ

Please take note that the numbers are not on point. I just picked random levels as long as the curve was fine and sounded fine.
I switched all 4 speakers to an aftermarket and disconnected the broken factory subwoofer. All 4 speakers sounds fine even without the sub.

*Dont mind the temp. It seems that when the engine is not running the temp is inaccurate. Temp goes back to normal reading as soon as ignition is set to ON or engine is running.

Has anyone used this setup in conjunction with any OBDII diagnostic tools? I'm curious as to the capabilities of live monitoring while driving/towing/on the trails

Hi All - Just got my PX6 from Phoenix and have it mostly installed. However, i'm having a couple of issues and would appreciate your help!

1) getting this annoying "beep beep beep" that won't go away unless the radio is on:

2) I can't get the AC controls to work. They worked until I went into the advanced menu to change the logo to a LC and now they don't.

I use mine with OBD2....just playing around with this screen but there are a TON of options and things you can monitor. I was using a free app I found.....OBD Auto Doctor.

This is a complete shot in the dark (I have zero experience with the PX6), but for the beeping did you try and reset your inclinometer? Wonder if the beeping could be some warning saying the incline is too severe? I think I read that you can tap and hold the inclinometer for a few seconds and it'll reset. Or something like that.

Same here, unplugged the offset connector as mentioned and it all started working. So far, no issues.

I just installed an aftermarket amp on my 03 LX with PX6. I removed the Nav ecu (At least I think thats what it is) and the ML amp under the Passenger seat.
Replaced it with a 5 channel amp.

Hooked up everything and I could not get sound from front driver. Did a little more research and saw @mistered123's post (Post # 49)

It was colored differently but same pins. After this, the front driver started receiving signal. Just FYI for anyone who might need to do this.

You didnt have any issues with the ML system after removing the amp? How did you know which wire went where?

Nope. No issues. Sounds amazing.

I pieced together the following threads below + mistered123's advice on the nav ecu harness. After that everything works. Took me a long time to piece everything together but after that, it was straight forward.

Post #5 of this:

My system consists of:
- PX6 headunit
- 5 Channel amp
- Aftermarket subwoofer
- Aftermarket speakers

Thank you so much I could never piece it together.

Yeah took me some time to figure it out. Was putting this project off because I'm not really a guru in this area. I started around 5pm, took a break then ate dinner, then worked on it until 130 am. Continued working on it this morning to hook up the amp. If I had to do it again, probably the amp bypass part will only take less than an hour. Tucking in the wires was the tedious part.

I installed a PX6 in my '06 UZJ100 over the weekend, this thread was very helpful. The two issues I ran into were with the amp not powering up and then the front DS speaker not working. Instead of completely bypassing the harness with the RCA audio inputs I was able to just tie in the amp power with a t-connector, my harness did not have the pink wire. I did have to splice the two speaker wires under the PS seat to make the DS front speaker work.

Questions:
  1. Anyone come up with a solve for the hum? Was going to try to tie the grounds together (HU/amp) but another poster said this didn't work due to the floating ground?
  2. I bought a 12V to 6V converter that a lot of WRX guys use, going to see if I can make the stock camera work. Has anyone put an aftermarket in the same spot as the factory (link)?
I installed my radio and seem to have the same issue with the amp not powering up. I get no sound at all, can you tell me what wires you used to power on the AMP? I have an 04, so the wiring should be pretty close.

See this post:

Tucker
I looked at the post and connected the wires (mine was blue instead of pink) blue to Grey and get a humming sound, no music. Volume control does nothing, just a constant hum. When I go to the console setting and look at the "AMP" line it shows powered off. I can change it to on, but it does nothing and reverts back to off when you close and open it back up. the radio App see channels and the antenna works like it should. I traced the wires based on the diagrams in the other post and all seem correct and the black with red stripe should be the switched 12V wire. The factory radio worked with no issues so It does not seem to be the AMP. I can plug the factory radio back in to verify the sound works.

maybe I am missing something.

Thanks
