Will be interested to see if there's some insight into why the aluminum failed at the LBJ? Leverage on the tire, but is that a manufacturing defect (i.e., not design). My 4runner has fully fabricated and boxed steel knuckles, I never thought twice about the lower joint ripping off...
74Weld Warranty depends on the vehicle and axle splines... some are up to 40" tires.
Werewolf Portals:
"Portal gearboxes are guaranteed for a period of 2 years or 50,000 km, when using wheels with a total diameter of up to 38 inches. And for a period of 1 year or 10,000 km, to the use of wheels with a total diameter of up to 40 inches."

They're speculating over on the Bronco forum. Sounds like 74Weld is stepping up to help them out. Also the Bronco guys think it's a little weird that it just broke like that. Apparently there's another Bronco and a Toyota that broke their portals, both at KOH sounds like but not sure. And the Toyota seems to have been installer error.
Yep, you've definitely been the exception. Has the manufacturer collected all of this data and implemented it into a v2.0 portal design? They did redesign the brackets. Deleted the shoulder and they now accommodate the dowel pin. @ScLeCo was told they have changed the drain plug so the...

The one user that seems extra upset has had some issues with his own portals:
Just got back from Moab and time to give an honest assessment on this somewhat controversial/debated upgrade. People have a tendency to abstain from saying anything bad after spending such a crazy amount of money on an accessory, but that’s not me and I owe nothing to 74Weld. No notes were taken...
It's true. I only do occasional crawling now when it's part of the trail to a destination. I couldn't hang with my Jeep friends anymore cause they love pushing the limits and breaking stuff on hard trails. I was always like man I can barely afford to get this thing kitted out, I can't buy things two or three times.
So, lmtl3ss_or on IG and @wind_chillin_taco both are running Werewolf Portals (38’s and 40” tires respectively) and both just did all the toughest trails at KOH without issue. @wind_chillin_taco has also done several long trips over 12 hours with his, did the trails, drove home, and no issues.

I don't know if it's an additional one, maybe you already saw this one? They said it happened 4 days after that one you posted last week. Just saw it in the latest Trail Militia video - it's on their Bronco. Skip to 31:30
Sounds like they have to be careful with Bronco suspension setups and when the aftermarket heim tie rod end bottomed out it acted like a lever and broke the mount.
As much as i want the werewolf portals too rich for my blood. I'm gonna upgrade the necessary components and run 35s for a quarter or less of the price. I know it's not 38s/40s but I have another toy to remedy that. Love watching the guys that do get it though.

Some good portal 4lo² action in this vid. As much clearance as these portal rigs gain, stability does seem to give up some. There's trades to everything and need to decide how a rig is going to be used.
I was waiting for that video to come out to see @Broski in action winching their 250 out of the escalator. More Broski action at 24:40.
After watching those rigs on a trail I'm very familiar with, I'll say, I think I'd prefer my stock LX suspension (or a normal lift) and some good skidplates over the portals. Seemed like a lot more tippy/floppy and side to side sway than a normal rig would have. Best use for portals is maybe romping through the muddy forests like the Ukrainians. Sure looks awesome though!

Saw an LX on 40s at COTR. Very cool but also wider on trails which meant driving in ruts could put it off camber and the wider track width means taking the same lines might not be feasible.
Portals provide gobs of clearance though. But for the $ I’d just go with the effort to fit 37s and be done with it.
