Hey guys, looking at a 2021 200 series with 100,XXX. They want ~69k for it. Price doesn’t seem unreasonable but I wanted to get you guys opinions on these newer LCs with higher miles early. I ideally want this to be my DD for over the next decade.

Why’s that? A lot of Variables at play

100k miles in 4-5 years is likely majority freeway miles, which is a lot less wear and tear than city driving

A truck with 100k freeway miles is going to have a lot less wear and tear than a truck with 60k or so city miles

Lower miles doesn’t always mean better

When I started looking, I looked at one here on CL with 89k miles, price seemed fair.

Got there and Interior looked like they ran a day care out of it for 10 years, damn near destroyed

My 200 had 200k when I got it, and the interior was more immaculate than even ones I looked at with 50k or so on them

Mine was a long distance commuter for 200k of its life.

Only the drivers seat was ever sat in, etc…

My point, lots of variables here

Are they trying to charge a premium because HE? I'd find a 2018 - 2020 non-HE with 100k or less miles. Should be ~$60k if I know the current market
 
after mid 2018-2019 MY the trucks are functionally unchanged save for color choices and HE/nonHE. While 100k doesn’t scare me I would look for one with fewer miles especially for that price.
 
Too much for 100k miles just based on market. That truck should be going for high $50s. I’m assuming it’s a base. If it’s an HE then their asking price is more fair.

$69k would be something in the 70k to 90k mile range imo. Under 50k miles you are still regularly seeing in the $80s for 21s.

All that being said, if you really want the car and it is (I) local to you (makes a difference as you can see the car in person and don’t have to pay to ship) and (II) clean (primarily in terms of interior and underbody rust which you should inspect closely), then go for it. You might be overpaying by $5k-$10k but if it’s what you want and it’s available then that isn’t the end of the world in my view.
 
Go older and save some money. Anything 16+ is nearly the same truck. Miles are irrelevant if the maintenance was done properly. (Obviously, the newest you can afford is usually worth the additional cost if it's priced reasonably.)

Too many people rant and rave about MILEAGE MILEAGE MILEAGE and ignore many other variables that are considerably more important
 
I don’t know the market price for these things anymore as my point of reference for what things should cost is still pre-2020 in mindset.

With that said, if you’re neck deep in searching and research you’d know market rate better than most. My smooth brain says it’s overpriced. But if it’s maintained properly and in great shape otherwise (assuming everything else is exactly what you want), see how flexible they are on pricing. Or wait. Either way, you’re in the best model year short range of the 200 imo.
