no need to worry about the threading. cut off the tube and use a flaring tool to make a bead on tube. the GM style fuel fitting flare tooling works the best but the 1st stage of a double flare or a bubble flare also works fine. it's just a return line with no pressure on it.
- Original 8mm feed line converted to the return line (fuel tank side) - need to figure out what in world metric threading was used on those flare fittings there, and was thinking get an AN fitting to mate with the flare with an 8mm/5/16" hose barb on the other side.
Planning to re-use the small steel hard line section from the 1FZ that routes along the engine, up to the rubber lines at the front. The FTE doesn't have mounting provisions for the brackets in the same location, so I'll have to come up with some solid places to mount it using the OE brackets.
Hey mate did you sort out your wiring.@Mag71k5 crazy timing, and thank you! However, I now know they're M14x1.5 - Today I went to 3 auto parts stores in a row, until I ended up in the back-of-house racking of an o'reilly going through random bins of fittings marked "NO REFUND", and found three of the fitting I needed. I asked how much and the store associate said, "I think we'll Merry Christmas those for you". Nice.
So I picked up some 3/8" NiCopp line from them and started dreaming up some hard lines. I drilled and tapped a hole on the trans bell housing to use an OE line bracket, still using adhesive lined heat shrink out here. Depending on trans temps, the heat shrink might be re-activated, but we'll see.

I had ordered an OE FTE turbo dump gasket and OE nuts and used those instead of the gasket provided by PPD to mount the turbo dump. As expected, the Toyota gasket looked to be 10x better quality.

Hey mate did you sort out your wiring.
Getting closer!!Updates here - the fuel system is now sorted with some diesel in the tank and the fuel filters primed.
I ended up using one AN fitting with a crush sleeve on the 8mm return line adapted to a hose barb.
This FTE setup came with the traditional main filter and also a pre-filter. Doing a little research, it seems these are spec’d only for harsh environments. I thought I was a nice extra factor of safety, so I got new filters for both and used it.
Also, finally pulled the cruise stalk to get shipped out to Lutz Auto.
I'm not entirely sure, it sounds like he is just soldering in a resistor so it can communicate with the FTE ECU.What does he do to the cruise stalk?
Ive got mine going direct from the vacuum pump, gives me plenty of braking power, I feel like I actually have more pedal than I did before.I've been chatting with Dave @ Japan4x4 who has been digging around for a vacuum reservoir that is at least Toyota OE, will hold a vacuum and bolt to something in the engine bay. He is unable to get HDJ80 and HDJ79 vacuum reservoirs for me at the moment. He recommended this part, which he can get which I'm going to go forward with.

I'm running a used one that looks just like it. not sure what toyota diesel it came from, working good for me. Just had to put a cupple rivnuts in. really you could get by without it I'm sure but there could be some weird situation where your going down hill really fast and the engine stalls and you want to push the pedal multiple times, you want to make sure you can stop.I've been chatting with Dave @ Japan4x4 who has been digging around for a vacuum reservoir that is at least Toyota OE, will hold a vacuum and bolt to something in the engine bay. Dave will get you sorted! Interesting you feel you have better brakes than before given the FTE is a little heavier than the 1FZ. But maybe a wash for you on weight as I'd guess the H152 is lighter than the auto. The autos are HEAVY.Ive got mine going direct from the vacuum pump, gives me plenty of braking power, I feel like I actually have more pedal than I did before.
Only problem if I stall the engine it'll probably get a very stiff pedal quickly.
I might look into this for mine. Good job finding a solution.
I had this thought too, but I figured if I can get my greasy paws on one, may as well get it ordered and installed.really you could get by without
Great job man, how difficult was it for you to get the fte in? It was a bastard for me man lol.FTE Pedal is in, and I got lost installing some sound deadening thanks to the instant gratification of amazon same day delivery. What a time to be alive.
