Looking at a 1994 80 series factory 1HD-T auto with 450k kms, got a manual read of the oil pressure prior to purchase. It’s reading 70psi cold at idle, after 10-15 minutes idling it settles to about 40psi at idle and 70psi under load. Are these pressures to high?

I have a manual Bosch gauge in my 94 and it reads the same as you. In winter it reads higher. My motor has 245,000 miles on it so you would think the motor would be a little loose on tolerances.

Ok awesome, cheers for the response. Just wanted to double check as it seems almost too high. I figured if they can handle 70psi all day long on the highway without breaking a sweat then 40psi at idle surely shouldn’t cause any issues.

When I’d doubt check it with a gauge instead of the vehicles onboard gauge ( usually fairly inaccurate ) just for piece of mind…. Or just keep sending it. I think you really don’t have high oil PSI issues until your popping oil filter O-rings.
