And a bonus pic of your rs3000 alarm indicator?

I'm working on replacing mine today. Just came in to look up a couple of the options because I'm trying to make it work as closely as I can to OEM, except better range. I don't really live somewhere that requires an alarm, but I love keyless entry and mine was becoming erratic.
Did you use the pigtail/ harness from the old rs3000 box to integrate your new one into the body harness? I think there was a thread on here that explains it.

I used that adapter that Lutz Auto makes, so it plugs into the connectors in place of the rs3000. It wasn't particularly difficult, and I think it'd be easy enough to graft the wiring together, but using the adapter was mostly a convenience thing. Used a cheapy Avitel alarm and it's mostly seamless and works like the original, though the beeps are a little longer than OEM. 0.8 seconds is the fast option, but it still feels s-l-o-w.

Did a few more small things, got the stock transfer case skid plate on, the splash guard? Above the steering dampener.

I also noticed two nuts completely backed off and a third was loose that bolt the turbo to the exhaust manifold. Tightened all those...

Then cruised around for bit.

I really need to start looking into new lift springs and shocks. The Iron man lean is killing me.

Ignore the coolant, I was checking it while warm and some bubbled out.

Continuing with the small stuff, trying everything is can to eliminate wind noise, especially since I like to cruise at 80mph. Lol.

Ive got a sickness. And the cure is finding some 80s with blown engines, and paring them with rusty hdj100's from Hokkaido.

Are you scoping out another FTE 100 series??

The scary part is man, I enjoyed thr process more than the result. Now I find I want to do it again, take my time and refine it.

That is a new level of sickness - I fully support it.

Mine isn’t done, but I’m right there with you, really enjoying the process.

Took the LX out today. Rising sun 4X4 club has trail cleanup/closure runs for few local trails around Idaho Springs. Had quite the line up, cleaned up a small amount of trash, but did quite a bit of fence repair.

Almost forgot this is what its all about, FTE did great the whole time, she did smoke/soot quite a lot above 11,000/12000 feet. Didnt burn any oil, but it was maybe struggling to get the air/fuel mix right.

Never noticed any stumbling etc, ran great the entire time.

Just something ill have to research.

Join a local group, get involved, and enjoy these rigs!

I got a new windshield rock chip on the way back from colorado a couple of week ago. Quite a few new rock chips on the paint though.
My wife wants to move back to colorado, but one thing I don't miss is having to annually replace windshields due to salt/sand blasting them to uselessness, or worse the rock chips ruining them.

I should probably look into sourcing a new seal soon, so I can be ready though.

Dropped by @Cruisers and Co today. He said my LX450 was light compared to some other rigs hes worked on.

I was pretty surprised at the weight difference between the left and right front.

I guess it makes sense with how the 1hd's are offset, and then adding things like the clutch assembly, fuel filter assembly etc.

Now I atleast have some numbers to help with spring selection.

5500lbs, that's 35x11.5x17 wildpeak AT'4s, nomad Sahara wheels, PDI intercooler, and some camping gear and tools in the rear.

Crazy how fast weight adds up.
