Agree. "Rebuilt" is always an unknown as you really have no idea what they actually did. Truly sucks and I'd be pissed but silver lining is you'll know exactly what you have now when it's done.

In my shop you know exactly what we do because we fully document every single bit of it in pics, video and communication.

Cheers

Bah. f*** it. This is all in the past.
Let’s hear the future?

Crate 350?

Well, we got the pump & the injectors bagged up and ready to ship out for some special treatment. Other things are pending.

We do have a pretty rad trans and clutch showing up soon. @Onur was working on an OEM flywheel. We just got the rest of the parts to rebuild and install the clutch pedal and it’s mounting bucket. Exhaust manifold going out for ceramic coating and some other bits for powder coat. So yup, moving forward. 😋

Cheers

That's really disappointing but at least the issues were found sooner than later and it's in the right hands now. Unfortunate. Looking forward to the solution forward.

Good to hear that things are moving forward. I'm curious, how much does ceramic coating the exhaust manifold help? Also stupid question of the day but wouldn't you want heat to disapate as quickly as possible even if its through the manifold ie lower exhaust gas temps so ceramic coating might block some of that?

So what will happen to all of the engines you’ve acquire? I think you have 3 but 2 need some sort of rehab work? Are you going to repair and then sell them or what is the next course of action? You are tenacious @jmlockwood !

Friggin government just wanted their taxes. Hit us with some duty today, paid them and it’s released and coming our way. 😛

A fine Gturbo red wheel, IP and injectors to match is going down. Shipping pump and injectors off before end of the week.

Cheers

It helps with heat sink and any parts near the turbo-manifold not getting so hot or cooked.

That’s a good question. There is actually another 70 series in the mix that I have not posted here. There was a scenario in which I was going to keep all of the engines but now it’s looking like that’s not going to be the outcome. I will definitely rebuild one of the FT’s for this truck. I’m probably not going to be keeping the other but I’m not sure if it will get sold “as is” or rebuilt.

Whole lot of things in the works.

GTurbo Bad Boy red wheel, injection pump and injectors too.

New short block, probably have that within a few weeks.

Head getting whatever it needs.

A bunch of new engine parts such as; power steering pump, vac pump, 12v starter and lots more. It will look hopefully as good as Johns other FTE we have here.

Cheers

I think that's the right call, you know Mr Yota put it together right, who knows what you'd find if you tore down that 'rebuilt' FT

We did tear it down. 😉

At the end of the day, I feel it comes down to cost analyst and end net results. We could absolutely rebuild what John has here, twice over. What’s that cost though compared to assembling new parts? I know what it is 😉 point is simply this is how in my opinion these kind of decisions should be made.

Dare I say, this will be the only FT 80 in the USA with an H152? 😆

Since it was an Aussie only trans and has only been on the market 4-5yrs there can’t be many here in any Cruiser. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Cheers

Not surprised, you Canadians have us beat on a number of things by several years. 😉

This happened today. We now have a complete HDJ80 manual transmission cluster. With 0 miles

My banker also informed me that she is now the “go to” person at my bank for currency conversions and international wires. Sent a lot of yen to Japan today for a brand new FTE short block. Hard time finding it but it’s been located and should be heading our way via DHL express in a day or two.
