Been a couple of busy weeks with work and family. But I finished up the rest end with axles, brakes, delta pan hard bracket. Go to work back on the front. Got it all cleaned up, delta lower radius arms on, new sway bar bushings, and drop brackets. Finally got to rebuilding the knuckles. I gooned up one of the axle seals, so I can finish till I get that for the other side. Here are some pics of where I’m at.

Question on the knuckles, first I wouldn’t be anywhere without @OTRAMM. Do you rub a little moly on the rubber seal? Or the axle housing that the rubber seal and felt seal ride on? I put it on dry as otramm does in the video. I couldn’t help myself out the slightest amount of moly on the surface.

Sometimes I regret not keeping the original motor, but, it was blown, and I felt it would’ve still been under powered. Not sure it was the motor to rebuild. I should’ve kept it. But it was a mess. I want to find another LC, and keep that one more stock. Maybe a 100 series for daily driving.
Why would you say that? What makes a original land cruiser appealing? My land cruiser is a blast with the LS. The thing I see people regret is overbuilding for what's really needed. Like too much suspension lift, or adding a ton of accessories that become annoying to have when a vehicle is more of a street rig.

Gotta love that truck norris cam. I kept the stock cam, I did put 706 heads on my 6.0. So I should be plentiful powerful for LC. I was afraid of putting too much power into it, didn’t want to have to upgrade all the drive train from stock for the extra horsepower

It should drive really nice.

After coming across a YouTube video of someone stuck out on a trail with broken knuckle steering arm studs. I elected to check mine. Luckily I’ve only finished one side. But on the other I went to see how tight they were in the knuckle, and shockingly, they came free extremely easy, now due to grit and some rust, they didn’t just free spin out, but that rust on the threads would’ve been all that held them on. So, Monday, I’ll be ordering new studs, come washers, and nuts. I know I probably could re-use these, but I’d say the PO got their moneys worth after 310k. So for 40$, and a few hours of my time. Could save me from being stuck lord knows where with two young boys and my wife, and have to pay an ungodly amount for an off road towing service. So please anyone reading this, if you rebuild your knuckles, take out the suds at a minimum and clean and re-torque.

Mine could’ve been loosened since they went through a professional parts washer, but if you take yours somewhere odds are they will use one too. I can’t even imagine being out on trail or just a dirt road. With minimal cell service needing help. In my tool bag, Ill just keep these to be extra studs, cone washers and nuts. At least 4, so if you had to put two in each side to limp home.

wait, i thought the studs themselves have no torque spec. its the nuts that have a torque spec and are responsible for providing the clamping force of the arm to the housing?

Im not sure of the "exact" torque spec of the studs into the knuckle, you can use some of toyotas guidance based on bolt diameter. Mine were barely snug. So I will be putting them back in with some thread locker. You are correct, however there are numerous cases of the studs becoming loose, and causing slop, which probably causes the sheering to occur. Just something to consider when performing an in depth knuckle refresh.

Got the other side done, unfortunately had to take some of the honey back apart to get to it squarely. Sooooo that was a lot of fun. But I couldn’t leave it alone. It’s done now, and sill have it wrapped up tomorrow!

Got the suspension, lift, axles, bearings, knuckles, calipers, new sway bar bushings, new 555 tie rod ends, new birfields, all bearings, rotors, brake pads, all new brake lines, extended brake lines, delta rear panhard bracket, delta 3' radius arms. It took me about 3 months for it all. Ill get the tires back on, drop it on its feet and bounce it a bit and torque down all the suspension bolts.

Once back on the ground, I'll measure for the driveshafts to get modified. For me the last headache is getting the transmission shift linkage figured out. It'll take some time, but I'll get it eventually. Thanks for all the support. Who has a line a rear bumper??? I was trying like hell to win that @Delta VS giveaway. I had 3 entries. Anyone know who won that? Do they plan on using it or flipping it?? Im going to Idaho in July for salmon fishing, I plan on stopping by to look at one in person.

Spoke to Tandem Offroad, trying to get a set of their rims, not sure they will be getting anymore in stock. I really liked their style, I don't like "fake beadlocks" on rims. Prefer just a smooth rim. Wouldn't mind some Toyota TRD 4 runner pull offs.
