I can't imagine your sources for parts being any more scarce than ours down here in Uganda. But if they are, always feel free to take a bus down here and we'll go shopping.

I can almost promise you I can find you any part you want/need within 2 days.

Oh and, this is what you get for buying a VX :) My base model has almost no electric gizmos, although I have a client's VX Limited sitting in the shop right now. Leaking like a hose!

Thank u for the kind offer...i have been to Uganda a couple of times as a telecoms GIS consultant for Celtel at the time....

The best market i have seen for second hand in our region is Kenya....they have almost everything, but at the time i drove a VW Touareg....a VERY complicated car.

and btw...i bought this VX limited for less than 1/2 price of a GX model here....and i knew what i was getting into.....but i love it...why?...because i just H8MUD..looooool

as far as your wiring goes, how about just ditching it altogether and making your own harness with a painless wiring fuseblock. I'm not sure the availability of their product where you are, but I did that on an old 81 toyota truck and worked great. super simple and easy to do!

I will donate a shrink wrap set if you were serious. What exactly were you looking for?

i wonder if someone will donate a wire shrink wrap set for me.....hmmmmmmmmmm....i promise to supply the lighter :D ....DHL delivers here ....just in case :) ..... the dollar rate here is MASSIVE....only available in black market....so i will definitely be ordering somehow..and can only transfer by Western Union....which in itself sounds like one of those " me love u long time" scams from our neighbouring countries....loooool......just let me figure out exactly WHAT it is i need.....besides a new 80 series cruiser :D

wow....i am humbled

this is what im doing....im even building my harness based on the 90 model. Simple and clean...especially that mine is a diesel with a mechanical pump. Went today to look for a relay/fuse box in the second hand area, just couldnt find anything complete...either top is missing, body is cracked or too poor a product....will have to refurbish my old one.

I'm in as well. Maybe we can get some items to a centralized local and then ship from there...

Let me know -

John

i am truely humbled....thank you thank you thank you....

went today to almost every well known car/electrical/industrial shops and they all replied....why not just tape it.....

im very grateful...i just to figure out the wiring im going for and if i need anything i will surely message u.... will need a shrink wrap set, this i know...which one?....well....the easiest one u can get a hold off....for the crimping im going old school (or as i said before...Hajji style)...good old pliers.

we have a prayer when someone is generous...may Allah (GOD) bless ur income and ur families....a good heart is always appreciated....thank you again and again.

shopping spree...sort off

Went and got the wires and terminal ends i needed....found a second hand industrial wire harness enclosure (or whatever its called)...

goodies.jpg

yesterday i printed out the RM184E jan 1990.....no ECU, CNN or MSNBC things.....just plain and simple..

once i set my wires down..test everything is fine with my ohmmeter....will take them out...crimp them, wrap them and then start on the interior.

Oh no don't worry about it, just pay it forward.

Send me a Private Message with your address and I will try and get it on it's way. No guarantee how soon that will be but I order it today and try and figure out how to get it in the mail.

for all those hesitant to buy a cruiser.....above proof that these LCs and their owners come with heritage and culture...

Would this work??

im trying to clean up the fuse terminals...some broke...non would allow me to strip the whole wire....im looking into a midway solution.... remove the wire insulation as far back as i can....then crimp on a spade terminal to it (red circle in image)....and then hook up the wire with another female (green circle)....i know the female is larger....african women always are...as the song in the cartoon Madagascar.....i like em biiiig....i like em chunky.....looooool....but this is just to get the idea.....

crimp3.jpg

Would this work?? would i lose any current (using brass or copper whatever its made of) ...what if i crimp and then solder it....???

Any help appreciated....

u can also see how bad this cruiser's wiring was...most of the fuse terminals in the image are not dirty....this is melted plastic from previous fuses......now u see why i needed to do this?
