Finally an update…nothing too hard or fancy

Got the needed parts from @Zee and @FJ73Texas.

For the lights I just tied into the cigarette lighter like @FJ73Texas. Don’t worry, no scotch locks were used in the modding of this cruiser.

Still not much happening but looking to tackle a few little projects…eventually.

This one I’m not sure if it’s 1 leak or 2.

For sure most of the leak is the pushrod cover

But here…is this just oil going down or is my oil cooler leaking a little. It doesn’t feel like coolant but hard to really tell.

You can see the bolt above the turbo drain.

I plan on washing it all off and checking again.
That’s the only spot that is like that. Which sucks because fixing that requires draining all coolant from the block, plus engine oil change /drain.

When I do the pushrod cover you pretty much have to pull the exhaust manifold/turbo unless you really like struggling. This would be a good time to do it all if need be.

It’s an alpine ilx-007 I think. 12v. My rig is Australian so 12v :)

CarPlay is nice…

Ah! That does make it easy. I like the alpine double din stereos too! Probably a stupid question but do you happen to know if anyone sells a super easy, automatic on/off voltage adapter type thing? Basically something for the electrically challenged. I’ve had ones that worked fine, but you had to remember to turn them off at a switch or else they killed your battery.

Could you power it through an ignition switched relay to shut off every time the key is turned off?

The Alpine looks good in there. I don't know if Alpine does it, but I've had Pioneer double dins that let you chose RHD or LHD. It's nice as it puts the CarPlay side bar menu closer to the steering wheel in RHD mode. It was buried in the settings but I'm not sure if Alpine offers such things

I’m not aware of any simple voltage converters with automatic on/off, of course I haven’t ever needed to look for one.

I didn’t think I would like car play fancy double DINs, but I had the radio from another vehicle so cost was nothing. Mine is older so it doesn’t have a lot of the new car play features and there isn’t any updates.

For now I’ll just run it. Waze works good and
Even has a gps speedometer which is nice.

@Bad Mojo this might be a good option for mounting the Auber gauges in the round dash KZJ78. Could probably 3D print an ash tray blanking plate with the right size cutouts.

@AirheadNut agreed, I like how those gauges are mounted. Gonna have to get the gauges ordered soon and fire up the 3D printer.

@FJBen thanks for showing off the slick mounting solution for your gauges!

A penny for every skinned knuckle you get trying to replace that will probably pay for the gasket...

Yeah that’s not a fun job at all. Even with taking the exhaust manifold and turbo out, it’s still reaching over the fender on a lifted truck and dealing with coolant.

Coolant flush
Oil change
Pushrod cover reseal
Timing cover leak…by the way.

Anyone know of a source or supercede for: 11328-56041.

It’s the timing cover gasket for 13bt but I can’t seem to find it. In all honesty I haven’t reached out to Dave steadman yet…
