Thanks man. Those primary colors get you all the timeWelcome! Great to see another 81 around here. Just a tip, when you decide to paint, be mindful of your primer color, especially if you're going blue. I chose to paint my 81 the older 77-80 sky blue instead, but my painter used a yellow tint primer and yes, yellow and blue do make green![]()
Seats are actually tolerable. Will need to re-cushion the driver though. Feels like I’m sitting the floor lolUpholstery by Gucci. You don’t see that every day.
I wouldn't do any more to the paint now. I like that 2 tone but it is your rig. good call getting rid of the pinkInstalled some Falken 285/70’s on some steelies today. View attachment 3734537View attachment 3734538View attachment 3734539
Post a wanted (WTB) add in parts classifieds here. When installing the hard top I was missing the rear kick vent window hardware, well just for one side. I have checked several sites for just the hardware ie rubber bits and screws. Only thing I turned up was some ebay stuff out of Malaysia I think. Anyone have a good lead on those parts?
Thanks @sterling Ill do that.Post a wanted (WTB) add in parts classifieds here.
Usually a very fair price and plenty of folks have parts boxes in the garage, I know I do.
Any chance the bezel is going white?
You can not swap square and round bezel , only way to do it is by swaping a bib from a 78 and olderThat square corner bezel has to go, IMO. Can't stand them. Have a spare proper bezel if you want it.
I have this thought often and contemplate going to the early round....Good god those square corners are awful.
Personal choice, but I kind of dig it on that paint scheme. Thank you for changing the color, two many flash backs with the old colors.Good god those square corners are awful.
My theory is that Toyota went to a square bezel to prepare Land Cruiser customers for the very angular 70 series trucks, which were almost certainly in development when the 40s went square bezel.Good god those square corners are awful.
