I have a 1981 FJ42 right hand drive with a 3B. Could this engine and transmission be put into a left hand vehicle without major issues?

You could research if it was ever offered in that year/model left hand drive. I'm not a right hand drive person.
The steering box/shaft is the way, the engine on my gas 72 is not in straight its slanted towards the passenger side to get that clearance. Battery is on p side. I think you could make it fit but brackets to hold air cleaner, moving pumps. then there is the bell housing/Tranny/Transfer.might be harder to source/modify or make

You have to remove both front and the right rear engine mounts then fab up a couple to suit the 3B, they're further back than the original fronts. Then use your gearbox crossmember under the FJ frame - or fab one out of 2x1 box. Your exhaust goes where the right rear engine mount sits.
