Well Retro went to SAS9 and did not fare well. Ended up on her side (flop!).

On Monday of SAS9 took her up Mineral to Poughkeepsie to corkscrew. After the wall, which Retro cleared, had a mishap on the next obstacle and over she went. Luckily did not roll, only flopped. With the help of the group @Ditcherman @Tank5 @Mike Shull @doseman @Broski @matzell and the guy in the j**p they got me turned back on the rubber side. Thanks for the quick actions and follow through to get me back up safely. We ended up there for the next few hours getting her running (won't go into all that, it is a long story) and Retro up to the top. Winch solenoids gave up the ghost so we had to drive it back around to the bypass.

The ole girl is hurt for sure but she still is running good and drivable. I have some work to do to bring her back around but with my local club have plenty of good people to help when needed.

PSA folks: WHERE YOUR SEAT BELTS, ALWAYS....
If not for wearing my seatbelt I may be telling a different story here. I came out of this incident without any physical harm. Not a scratch not a bruise. The seat belt did its job 100%. Now my pride and ego is different story LOL

Again, I find examples of why I love this community. All of the folks mentioned above stuck around and help where/when needed. Truly grateful and could never repay you guys. THANKS!!!!

Thanks Brian. really appreciate that.

Oh, I am sure you will bring that. Hope we meet again and next time get to hang more and do some trails

Allen I’m supper happy you didn’t get hurt.

I feel it’s important enough that I have to say it so please don’t take offense.

Equally important as wearing your seatbelt is listening to others that know the trail better and have more experience.
Know your rig, you need to know how to stop it if stalls on a steep incline and not let it roll backwards uncontrollably.

Allen IMO you were very lucky and it could have been much worse.

This is intended for everyone to learn and not have a problem themselves.

Richard, good point for sure. Thank you and no offense taken.
I made a mistake trying to “drive” through it and panicked when it started to roll back. I am very lucky I was not hurt.

It was awesome seeing you get back on the horse that bucked you off and seeing you driving it out!!!
BTDT. (on the horse, literally)

It was also good seeing you later in the week, some people commented you actually looked younger later in the week.

Since you brought up the J**p guy, I’d like to tell a bit of his story. I’m kinda the reason he was with us, as he pulled up as we were airing down, and I know I was breaking a rule by talking to a J**p guy ( @Ol Yeller ’s brother-in-law is actually super cool too) but I couldn’t help myself because his engine was rattling so loud. Like a diesel. And it was. So we talked for a minute and he just asked if he could follow us.
Well, I’m a nobody with zero experience but I figured it’s a free country and he can do what he wants. So he did.
When the rollover occurred, Hesus (Jesus? I’m spelling it like it heard it) was right beside the bypass that we went up to avoid the obstacle Alan had flopped on. But he didn’t bail up it, quite the opposite. He was up there with the rest of us, and he was the first to go back and bring water up to any that needed it. He made multiple trips to bring more water up. He brought up the sawzall to cut the tailpipe that was wedged into the side of the tire off.

Turns out Hesus, an oilfield equipment specialist, is a real world traveler, having seen 6 of the 7 wonders of the world, and working to (and accomplishing handily) acquiring all the Jeep Trail badges of honor, all solo.

He’d also been down Black Bear 5 years ago, and the day before, and gave us some great advice.

Just wanted to throw that out there, as Hesus truly had that ‘no one left behind’ ethos. Not one of us would have considered leaving someone behind, but it was also out of the question for this guy who just tagged along to leave either.

I am going to take a lesson from Jesus and bring a cooler full of waters and pack a sawzall. I am really glad that you are okay, Allan. I was really concerned when I saw your Cruiser on the side and you were nowhere in site. What a relief when I heard you call out that you were okay and held in by the seat belt.

I was really happy to see that you removed your doors later in the week to get some fresh air. I am looking forward to another trail run next year if you are willing. I will be watching this thread for progress. Good luck with the repairs.

Starting the build back process or atleast the "remove the damage" process. Youngest mancub and I started pulling pieces and parts off the ole girl this weekend. Cleaned her up a bit and took her for a quick ride just around the neighborhood. Planning the next steps. #fallcrawl is in October so just going to get her safe so can trail ride her and then get serious about the next steps. RR all brake fluid. RR all clutch fluid. T-case gears, Soft top, Full cage, 1/8" tub sides are all on the list. I have new springs and u bolt flip kit sitting on the shelf maybe that goes in as well.
