You gonna grace us with your presence at Carolina Relic Run in April? If so, bring it. By the way what’cha got?

Got rid of Bucky's terrible PO hack-fabbed 2" receiver hitch and made my own that is tucked up and out of the way. It will be used to pull a small utility trailer that I have modified to carry my RTT.

Ol’ Bucky played pack mule for a little outdoor fun in the beautiful Spring weather here in NC.

Oh my GAWD that thing is awesome!
I ❤ BUCKY!!
Thanks, Levi. That means a lot coming from you, bud. I feel exactly the same way!

What is it about a 55 with a canoe on top that rings all the bells. I want to put one up there, just to go to town. :)
On Bucky's first real outing last year, the kids and I drove it to the Charlotte Cars and Coffee meet-up. I strapped the canoe on top for the car show just for effect. Later that month Bucky became the Charlotte Cars and Coffee interwebz poster vehicle on Instagram and Facebook.

Upon arrival I was instructed to park in the "exotics" section of the show. I think it is hilarious that of all the Lambos and Ferraris in attendance, the web photographer chose Bucky to be the next month's picture vehicle.

Bucky needs a winch. I have a few Warn 8274's in various states of disrepair just sitting around the shop. I think I can swap parts around from one to the other to get one or maybe two good working winches. Bucky's original bumper is pretty mangled. It is twisted and dented. At some point a PO welded some sort of angle iron brackets to the ends of the bumper and I am tired of looking at the remnants of those. I've decided that I'm going to fab up a new winch bumper for Bucky.

I took a piece of scrap 2x4 tube (the same tube that I used for Bucky's rockers) and clamped it up to the front of the truck to decide how long I wanted the bumper to be and what shape I like the best. For mock-up, I lightly dusted the bumper with silver paint and used some flat black to "black out" areas to define a potential shape. Here are some of my mock-up pics:

With some help from my son, Nathan (it's really his truck after all), we settled on the last of the mock-up designs as our bumper shape. Nathan likes the shorter, more aggressive bumper design and I am a fan of the angled-up cuts for clearance over obstacles. I cut down the 2x4 tube to 45 inches, made some relief cuts and bent in the bumper ends 10 degrees on either side and tacked them in place. Bottom angle cuts finish out the basic design. I plan to box in the bumper ends, cut out and attach a winch mount plate as well as fab two clevis mounts that go completely through the bumper which will be welded on both sides.

Nice, my granddaughter and I built almost the exact same bumper a few year ago. We had a great time talking about the design, as you can see we decided to ditch the rainbow unicorns in the final version.

Finished Bucky’s bumper and scrounged up enough parts to put together a working 8274.
