"they bench tested it , tuned it and everything. It ran me around 300 dollars but when i got it back and mounted i could barely hear my motor run, and the acceleration felt so smooth.

so why efi?[/QUOTE]

ok, basically i wanted the 1)extra power 2) cold start up 2) ease of tuning and engine efficiency. Not to mention I don't have to adjust the carby everytime i go to the mountains or it gets cold outside and for steep inclines.

It also is cheaper to get the parts from a 3fe and make it fit the 77 2f instead of forking out 1000 plus bucks for the tbi setup and it still isn't even toyota

anyways..

heres some pics of when i removed the radiator and all the hoses to replace the radiator to send some parts to the powdercoater.

still 2 summers before i knew i was going to be doing a frame off on this truck...

deciding that these things wont come off the right way. So....

I used the only tool i had lying around. My dad's old wood saw ( very hard and redneck to do it thisway) It worked. At this point i was trying to drain the hose any way i could at the angle i had.

and yes i had a tub to catch it with on the floor:D

and here i am getting all the parts off the belt assembly for powdercoating. I also had them powdercoat the radiator parts as well.

Here is one final picture of what it looked like when the radiator was missing. hmm

SO as you can see, I have been buisy a few summers ago ;)

Here are some last pictures of when our family friends came out from colorado to spend time with us. They absolutely LOVED the cruiser and WIll ( the brother) said it was a "cool jeep" . I asked them if they wanted to help work on it . they seemed excited, so had them shine up my brake lines in the engine bay with steel wool. haha. hey it looked great when they were done! they did a great job, although you probably couldn't tell in the pictures that they enjoyed it. It kind of looks like i am slave driving children overseas or something. haha

anyways here they are . ANd if you have to know i have no pics of me working on the cruiser as i was the only one working the camera.:grinpimp:

here is a picture of CECE:

I hope all of you are enjoying these pictures. I had to dig them up from two summers ago. I am just giving everyone a background of what i have done before the resto began and before I knew i was doing one.

thanks for all the positive comments!

And lastly, here are some pictures of the truck recently this last summer. I had bought a hardtop from George a.k.a. Orangefj45 and heres some other pics of my mom at the pleasanton car show. I had her sit in the driver's seat . she looks really cool in it!

she by the way she has helped me alot with this resto ( not so much manual labor) just with organization and when i am at work she goes down to the shop everynow and then and checks on things and relays info back and forth when i can't be there.SHe also really can't wait to see the final product when this resto is done. I guess you could say she kinda likes cruisers as well.

and finally the most recent picture of them all.

Here is my truck about 3 months away from the teardown with the hardtop mounted on it ( from Orangefj45)

It kept me very cool during last summer. and it was HHHot outside. The fiberglass roof made if feel 10 degrees coolcer in the truck. WAY better than the black softop.

I hope thing turns out Great!
I'm over at Travis AFB doing a frame off on a 66 right now and must thank you for the pics in your post. I had it delivered to me in Boxes and boxes of parts and nuts and bolts... Ths is a nightmare... I'm used to 1940's Willy's....

Gary.

P.S. Your Mom does look great in that cruiser! ;)

nice work rachel! it's always a good idea to take as many pics as possible to document a build up like this. keep it up.;)

I second that! I have over 6 GIG of pics of my Cruiser resurection ( NOT a restoration, it was too far gone for that.) Has saved me time and time again when I forget how something was connected or oriented. Plus 20 years from now you (or your kids if you pass it down) will get a kick out of the pics.

Good work so far!

Looks great keep up the good work

Here is a list of stuff i did to the cruiser a year ago.
installed electronic ignition

Well, you will need to sell that as you need to use the 3FE dizzy if you do the 2FE conversion. I looked into a DUI, but at this time it's only a thought.

I would highly recommend not taking the frame to the powder coaters until you have everything mocked up in the frame. otherwise you'll be grinding off some of the new powder coat to weld on your new t-case x-member. running the stock engine mounts with an H55F and a split case is not the way to go. too much weight hanging off the back. also, the extra length of the 5 spd and split case will result in the t-case hitting the bottom of the tub and you'll have to either modigy the trans tunnel and tub and/or do a body lift as well as possibly having to move the rear axle back. like mentioned earlier, the rear drive shaft will be extremely short which might necessitate moving the rear back to create more room for the drive shaft. this will also involve moving the spring hangers and cutting the rear wheel wells.

What he said. I had to cut out the middle crossmember on my 1969 and weld in another bar further back. I haven't fab'd a tranny mount yet. A body lift was required and I needed to modify my doghouse because the H55F is a taller tranny than the 3-speed. My rear axle was also moved back 4 inches for the driveshaft.
