i had my carb rebuilt a year and a half ago. it runs fine and everything i just like the idea of not having to mess with it all the time. Its going to be a dd so i like the injection idea. ya, when the time comes i'll know

as far as the resto is going i am just waiting to get the engine from jasper and bolt it up to the new 5 speed. can't wait!

It should get here in 3 weeks.

from there i tow it down to the painters
and they assemble the whole freshly painted body together onto the rolling chasis

I absolutely cannot wait! i have worked sooo long and hard to reach this point. thanks everyone!

Hey Okie-How about a progress report? Your 3 week project took a little longer than expected!

dont know how i never started reading this thread before. good stuff. i'm waiting for a 3fe for my 69'. i was planning something alot like your build.

70 build up

Wow,

One of the longest threads I've read. Interesting and sometimes controversial;)

I have a 71--"UGLY BETTY"--- dubbed so when she arrived in primer gray and on small michelin car tires--lookin better with a lift and BFGs on her now!

If I can make a suggestion on mods in general though it would be to keep some good documentation such as schematics, part numbers used and any other notes about changes to the original configuration of the vehicle.

No matter what your skill level and experience there may come a time when you need someone else to work on it and the info will prove valuable then.

Looks like you have a beaut to start with though

Great pics, I get a lot of detail from the pics on mud for my build, keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, must be nice to be able to get pics of OTHERS working on your FJ! ha ha!

Hey maybe see you down at good guys nationals next year. I went last year and this year. Hope to drive my 40 next year. Bump for pics.

will post picks when i get it back. I took it to a shop to get the tbi running. Probably be another 2 months before i get her back and will be able to get all the pictures loaded and everything in order here. ..:frown:

I want to make it up to a goodguys event with my truck someday. I loved the goodguys events there in Pleasanton, the best times. I met an fj owner there 2 years ago and alot of other good people.

take care Nick, don't worry i haven't forgot about this thread, my life has been packed in through the past 2 years. Life always seems to get in the way with all these projects.

hey mark yea you can do the paint in 3 weeks, if you do it yourself. Dont expect a body shop to get it done in that amount of time. I worked on my truck at the body shop i had it sprayed at; so for body shop time i had my truck painted in under a month wich is fast. I was also there everyday from the crack of dawn to after everyone went home. I don't have all my pics of my resto but one of them is my profile picture. Thats it for now.

update : I finished this project in feb of this year and everything works great. I seriously couldn't be happier with what iv'e done. This website being available with the info in the faq along with countless toyota manual reading has really given me the knowledge to build this truck the right way. I have had my immature moments for sure on this website haha but I have learned alot and grown up alot; now at 24 im pretty damn proud of myself and what I have accomplished. This was an almost impossible project for me to do by myself but I finished it because I had great people backing me the whole time.
Thanks to all the people who had encouraging nice words to say - your encouragement really kept me going.

with that said, I am not going to post pictures for security reasons. there have been some issues with some members here and because of their personal attacks in and out of this thread and that is the reason I am not going to upload any pictures of my vehicle. Im sorry to the people that have been encouraging through this build and I would love to share these pictures with you. If you are a personal friend of mine then you have already seen this truck; if not send me an email i will send some pictures of the truck your way.

to the people who claim they helped me when all they could muster is critizism, they are the reason for me not continuing this thread with pictures and information, i am not going to put my time and energy into something that generates arguments and conflict.

I want to recognize a couple of people that took part in this build:

Mr. Parker R.I.P. you will be missed
my parents
Robert Hall
Mike
the muffler shop down the street
Peter ( machine shop down the street)

thanks to all and peace out :zilla:
