You should weld the plate to the column after you position it where you like

I was just looking at that. I don’t have the seats yet but I set the steering wheel 3” forward with the closest clearance to the frame as I dared. This way all we have to do is slide it around until we like it.

We also don’t have motor mounts welded in yet for the RoboCop motor. I’m going to stop where I am so I can steer it around and once everything is in place we will pull it out and weld the column to the plate.

Looking good. I really like the tire and wheel combo. I wish there was a 35" tire that would fit those rims.

That 45 is goung to be fun to drive. I had the pleasure of driving it when it was at my place in it's previous form and enjoyed every minute of it. It is going to be so much better and a lot more fun.

Their is a skinny super swampers radial. It's 10.5 wide I believe.

The small things that take forever

Made sure the Master and Booster were spaced correctly and bolted it all in again only to realize that even without the spacer City Racer the yoke was about 2” from the pedal.
I looked on Summit and they sell one for $80. I decided to make one by combining both of these old ones

Were you able to get the dash bracket tight enough for the outer column to not rotate?

You're on to something important, JDC. Yes, the column tube has to be anchored against both rotating and plunging. Welding is the permanent answer. Alternatively, the street rod crowd uses this adjustable bracket to hold the column tube and allow depth & angle adjustment:

I got a sneak peek at the seats tonight from Cruiser Corps.

We located some seat back metals and are ditching the weird cloth

All the metal was body worked and primed with 2K Urethane primer and frames were all painted with PPG base coat clear coat

Can’t wait to see the final product

Another spot that you need tiny girl hands to get the bolt back in. Now I remember why I cut the last gaskets I installed.

I’m on light duty. Pulled my shoulder out Sunday so I’ve only been doing projects I can do high on muscle relaxers.
I liked the tin box up with Noico 150 added a glove door gasket.

Saturday this guy is going back on the rack so I can begin to build out all the brake lines

Dang on the shoulder, that sucks crawling around rigs.

Those vent door springs pop out and there’s a hinge pin that’s easily pulled so you don’t have to unbolt the vents from the hinge bracket to get the rubbers on.

The big pin had about 4 coats of paint on it. I was skeered of making a mess pulling it out.

I’m going to slide this in on a quiet Friday while no one is paying attention...

We mentioned earlier that we were building a Big Bad 4.6L *wink *wink ‘1F’. I concocted an elaborate story as to how we were going to bore out an F block 500cc and then modify the head for 4 valves and two overhead cams, and then, like magic, show the finished product, but @Onur blew the story a few pages back.

We ordered some custom parts early on, and they recently started showing up, so I tore down a 1F and took it to my machine shop...

I don’t think they’ve started on it yet, but here’s a sneak peak at the magic 4 valve head after it’s been loved on. This is a stock build I’m starting soon as practice for John’s:

The stock cams are known to be pretty boring from the factory, so we got a set of new, more aggressive cams. This is all an experiment, but I’m projecting we’ll lose a little off the line and gain a lot more where most of the driving takes place. Since the 45 is so much lighter than the truck this motor originally came it, it will probably still smoke it from a start.

Compared to the stockers:

They’ve got a little less skirt for less friction, which also translates to lighter weight, almost a pound between all of them.

That’s all I can disclose for now, there’ll be plenty more as this progresses!
