I had a hell of a time with mine. I had better luck when I put a level on the hinge. It made it easier to find the holes. You need the hands of a Japanese girl to get up in there.

Got that pile of powdered porn all installed today. Man. That was a lot of beautiful stuff.
I had a few of the OEM bolts powdered where I thought they would look better than stainless.

Jason was kind to meet me up there on his day off to get the pieces

It’s tougher than paint but I still had to take great care with them. I even bumped the wrench size up to make sure I did not mess them up. The powder is thick. He said he shot them 3 times

I was just really getting mad at the passenger upper door hinge bracket when my daughter called and said the golf cart died.

I saw it as a sign and decided to fire up Weenie3 after it’s been sitting for a few weeks. The @FJ40Jim carb fired the F1.5 right up and I drug them home

when I got back I decided I’d dig out some of these pointed style M8 bolts and they really helped me get the bolt started in those horrible floating plates the hinges are bolted to

I had the JT Outfitters firewall brake booster spacer powdered and removed the spacer from the new City Racer booster and I think this is going to fit great. This is not how I told Rainman I was doing the lines so hopefully there is enough extra for me to bed them to work. If not we will work it out

Lots of other small things I’m sure I forgot. Tomorrow I’m going to get the steering in.

This plate from @lcwizard turned out great. I’m going to be able to push the steering wheel a few inches forward from the stock location which will make a huge difference in the cramped cab of the 45swb.

The 30spline joint that was on back order showed up as well so it’s go time on the steering.

What are you planning to use to anchor the column at the firewall?

Were you able to get the dash bracket tight enough for the outer column to not rotate?

There is a brass bushing inside the column in the engine area and the factory rubber grommet is in the other end. The outer black tube is not being turned.

And if you have a good bushing I the Column it’s plenty tight. If your bushing is bad just add more rubber to it.

What purpose does the firewall plate upgrade serve if you aren’t anchoring anything to it? (Not trying to be a dick, I like to see the different ways people are modding these trucks).

The 73 and up has a plate at the firewall where you put a bearing when doing Saginaw.

Theae older units use a plate. The OEM setup has the steering rod attached to the steering box.
The newer style uses a rag joint.

The main reason I’m singing the praises of this particular plate is that the ones I’ve used in the past did not come pre drilled for the 4 holes in the firewall that used to hold the seal

Also, the large center hole is made oblong so you can raise the column. The other plates I’ve used locate it more in the center and you have to grind on them. This one leaves just a tiny bit of daylight around it and it will make it easy to seal up

Fantastic

You guys are popping off the kick vents and using that as access as well, right?

You should weld the plate to the column after you position it where you like
