@middlecalf Was cattle ranching any part of your life before "retirement"? Reading your posts over time I have picked up that you likely worked for Boeing for your career and now are chasing cows for fun. Just curious how one makes the transition from the corporate world of Boeing to the polar opposite of small town cattle ranching. My father grew up in SE idaho on a small hobby dairy farm. He split the second he graduated high school and didnt care to see another cow in his life. We grew up on property in western Washington state, but dad got into excavation so we were around earth moving equipment, not farm equipment and animals. I chased my own path and left small town america to see some of the world, its been fun, but I miss the community of rural america. More days than not, I dream about simplifying life and escaping the rat race to a rural existence similar what you present here - I'm jealous!
Our current fun - still a couple miles from us but except for smoke blackout would be an entertaining view from Anderson Reserve’s deck View attachment 3697209
No background in this cowboy stuff at all. I should have skis on in the winter and a flyrod in my hand in the summer from what I grew up doing in Steamboat. Went full aerospace geek somehow so Boeing was obvious career point. My FIL (retired thoracic surgeon) grew up on a farm in Illinois, so he’s acquired the farm and ranch stuff over the years. I’m just <forced> cheap labor now .
