Did you rework your suspension on this, Dallas? I've gone through the thread and saw in a different thread where you were interested in a lift... but what if anything did you do?

'Mornin!

As far as suspension goes. Stock. Just replaced the spring bushings and cleaned it all up. Until such a day as when I can put an OME 2.5" kit on it, it is currently a slightly sagging stock setup. I took off each shock, tested, etc.. and replaced bushings for a smooth ride.

That's 'bout it :-)

It's DUMPING snow at my house here in Peyton, Colorado.

UPDATE: Passenger door, DONE.

ALSO, something I wanted to note on Robert Furman's bug catcher rubber.

GOOD stuff. Granted the corners you have to manipulate/glue in there. (I used a GEL Super Glue - easy to control).

What I did was install all of the rubber, then I glued the corners. Then I slid the metal part onto the back of the glass. I took some grease and put a film around the whole unit.

I stood on the inside of the door, with the glass on the outside. I put the rear of the vent window in first, and used those plastic paddles to orientate the rubber correctly.

Then, I pulled against my chest, and the window "popped" into the rear section. I then used the plastic paddles again to work the rest of the rubber around it. Cleaned up with windex and completed the door.

Very impressed with how it turned out. The corners look good (pictures to come) but not as good as a molded one piece does. I was just excited that it worked out so well, and the window is operational!!!
When I first bought the rig, that bug catcher rubber was so hard the window wouldn't open.

Snow!!!

We're supposed to hit 34*C today (93.2F) Not a cloud in the sky. Google Earth says 1183 miles to drive and 950 miles as the crow flies North of Peyton here. Same type of geography Calgary vs Denver as well. Thing is, knowing the weather around here, I could wake up to 18" of snow tomorrow. We usually get first snowfall around Halloween.

Aaaaanyway - sounds like you got-er-done with the rubber. Can't wait for the pics

Wow, what a transformation! It has been a really slow morning at work here and I just read through the entire build thread. I am green with envy of your skills & your resources. Keep up the good work. Will you be giving the newly acquired 40 the same treatment?

I remember when you posted this up for sale/trade and I wished I had the cash to pickup such and awesome piece of Toyota history. I personally loved the old paint job and wanted to see it stay as I was reading through the thread. That rustic paint job would have looked tits with the 2 1/2" OME & some tall skinnies! You still plan on putting a small lift on it?

Snow in Payton, eh? Man I miss snow.:whoops: I'm just getting ready for stupid-hot season they call summer down here.:censor:

Can't wait to see the photos of your rig when it's done. Can I put in a request for another shot at the old railyard (is that in Falcon, Co?)? I love those shots when it was in its old livery.

Yes, I do indeed plan on 2.5" OME and some 33x10.50 BFG M/T's. That together however is a hefty chunk of change.

Oh, and I am still putting the finishing touches on this week. However since we are approaching Halloween, there was a growling F135 whining through the forest last night......PEEK-A-BOO:

DONT SHOOT ME......

But one of the crowning touches and "areas" of the Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series is the Toyota and 4wd emblems on the rear quarters. I LOVE EM. I just really think the look of those two emblems sets a mood/tone/attitude about a Land Cruiser that hits "home".

SO - I am sorry if this makes the absolute purist in you cringe - however, I love it.

I will not take them off - but am curious - does this make you cringe?

Nice!!!

Toyota moved the spare tire around over the years, I have seen the plate style carrier on either side........

I want to say they moved them to the Driver side - as TJ mentioned, in Early 75. At that point it was the box style. The tube style didn't come into play until late 76 if I recall, and carried on.

My 77 is actually a Sept 1976. It has the vent windows in the hard top, tube-style tire-carrier, etc....

I am sure someone will post a link to the authenticity of what we are talking about.

Man, I could use a nap right now. ZZzzzzzz sleepy for some reason.
