A buddy of mine turned this one up. Its been hiding in storage since the late 70s.
Its not a west coast survivor, but certainly one for the eastcoast.

this hasnt moved in decades and all the wheels were locked up. a good bit of heat to soften the shoes enough to get the drums off and success, all four wheels now turn free.

I don't see any brake shoe material. But good jib getting the drums off without ruining something.

Here is an idea of a dark grey. These pictures were taken sixteen years ago. Have a bunch more on a hard drive.

Personally if could get a good tan canvas early top would go Yosemite Yellow. Can't find them now but was factory brochure of a soft top model in one. Maybe @JohnnyC would have it. Really looks like pale green. These early 40s most everything was painted body color that includes bumperettes.

Have a better picture some where. Does not look like spring green.

Here is a white one with a canvas top

the Sulfur yellow is the one I would go for if you are looking for a cool early color. Might not be super correct. I have seen one on mud that was beautiful I think @ClemsonCruiser owned it. Here it is on bring a trailer https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-toyota-land-cruiser-fj40-25/

Obviously spring green is the best but I really do love the Sulfur yellow. I normally hate yellow but this one is just right.

also I love this one! Its worth fixing up right.

Sulphur yellow is a great early color, very unique in how it presents itself in varying shades depending on the light.

If anybody wants I believe I still have the paint formula somewhere from that project.

Interesting to see that BAT auction, given recent discussions about 40 prices. This one, with a SBC swap, went for $45,000 in Feb 22. It's a beauty for sure, very well done, but I wonder if it would see $30,000 today.

I think my 1963 FJ45 was Sulfur Yellow, I painted it in early 80’s a very poor match (and poor rust repairs by me); but would like to try to match. I have a clean undamaged oem sample from one of the gas tank straps. I’d like to see pics of yours ( you can send personal message) I would really appreciate it. I bought a new to me 2,400sf shop (w/ a house if your into that) and want to re-restore in next year or so. A couple other projects in front of that.

Obviously what I thought was Yosemite Yellow was most likely Sulfur Yellow. Haven't bought anything for the early cruisers in fifteen years and lost interest in them in 2013.

The early 61 up to mid 63 FJ40s have more value to a collector. 61 shares the hard door design with the FJ25. Same with the front bumper, rear floor pattern, gas cap, air intake in the apron. The air inlet on the apron went away during 1961. My early rust bucket hard top had one and later 61 didn't. The 61s have a one year only rear jump seat. They have two side arms like the FJ25 but the side arms on the 61 were lower like the later years up to 9/73 in the US. The FJ25 side arms were at the height of the back. In a earlier picture in this thread you can the bracket to support the front arm. It's right where the wheel well angles down at the front. There is a 61 FJ40 for sale that not sure anything on it is actually from the the 1960s. Parts are hard to come by. The soft top door headers is longer than later years. Rear jumps seats could probably be made using two sets of later sixties jumps seats. Take the arm off one set and add to the other set. Then grind the tabs off that bolt to the top of the tub. Early 60s did have those.
