Figured I'd start a new thread to keep this topic separate from the leather seat options. I reached out to Ed at Wolfham upholstery and he is looking into fabric options for folks interested in replacing their leather seats with cloth. He is interested in offering fabric replacement covers but has to find suitable fabric (matched color and quality). Ed currently offers leather seat replacement covers and has all the patterns.

Just to be clear - these would be cloth replacement covers. They would replace the leather seat covers.

I found these pics in the poverty pack thread to give an idea of tan and grey cloth interiors. I also sent these photos to him to aid in his search.

If anyone knows codes/names etc for the factory fabric, please post the information here. OR if anyone knows of a more suitable fabric, that would be helpful as well.

I'll post up any updates in a week or two once Ed gets back to me.

I would totally be in on something like this, I have been looking for cloth replacement options vs doing leather all over again. While seat cover options are nice to have it’s tough to spend $700 on seat covers with the leather under still deteriorating.

Would much rather spend the money on some cloth replacements!

Unfortunately I haven’t had much luck myself in sourcing names / PN for the fabric

The factory cloth puts out some terrible chemical odors. The older Japanese cars that come into our shop induce a gag-reflex.
We have a customer with a '99 Sienna...one of the worst interior smells ever. Definitely a strong fabric to say the least, his is still near 100% as good as new.

An organic velour is available but not sure if it is as durable.

The original cloth may wear well but to me it doesn't look that great. I would go for style, like the 3rd picture in post 1 of this 80 series thread - FJ80 in KC - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fj80-in-kc.1261480/ Any quality auto grade cloth should wear pretty well.

100% agree, that is more appropriate and much better looking. Probably doesn't smell like ass either.
This is the direction I plan on going at some point. Not a big fan of leather, unless it's an alcantara blend like my old Audi B5S4.

Great ideas! That definitely looks much nicer. More along the lines of the cloth I had in my 4th gen sport 4runner. Those seats took a beating.

I'll send a few more pictures along to Ed and see what he can put together.

my tastes are a little... well, different, than most folk's, but I think it would be kinda cool to do solid color outer panels with bus seat fabric centers... I remember a YouTuber (Hoovie's Garage, for those keeping score) do something similar on a high-mileage Ferrari 348 and it turned out really cool (IMO).

If you specified the materials, I wonder if there are other considerations to just using the leather seat patterns and substituting the fabrics...

If the LSeats don't last any longer for me than it seems to for a lot of people I'll probably be in the market for new seat covers again in a couple of years... It would be cool to have an option in cloth like those 80's.

Count me interested… I have always loved cloth.

I like the older carpet style of the early 90s Toyotas. I call it like the Greyhound bus print lol

Another options is a company like CalTrend ... I just ordered for my highlander in neoprene and 100 series in cordura, but they seem to have some fabric options as well. Made in US

Love those old Rav 4 interiors. My 1992 Corolla also have fabric, doesn't smell bad and has held up over 30 years

Totally, I can dig it. Leather is great when new but I can't help but be paranoid about my dog ripping it, spilling s*** on it, etc.

I can even go as crazy as saying I like this look too. Gives the cruiser more of a rugged suburban style feel compared to a classy rig that you don't want to mess up. Doesn't blend all that nice with the beige interior but still, a nice change from the norm

In a week or so you can include me in the category of idiots who bought expensive leather replacements, installed it on my own, and then recently decided I'm going to put seat covers on them. If I could do it all again I would have covered them sooner and just moved on....My dog is a POS and pretty much won't shutup unless hes up on the front seat

I'll check back with Ed this week and see where he's at with it.
