Hey Everyone. Long time gleaner of info. first time poster. I just did the manifold gaskets on my Lx470, which I’ve done before. (Make sure your torque wrench doesn’t suck when you do those or you’ll get to do them twice like me smh.) Now that I’ve fixed the manifold gaskets again the LX turns and fires but sounds like the timing is messed up or it’s just giving way too much fuel and dies unless I mess with the pedal a lot and it still runs like crap. Also it Isn’t throwing codes n my basic Obd2 for some reason.

Additional info: I may have broken what I think is the coolant temp sensor below the throttle box on the left front. I reattached the clips and the wire looks fine but the plastic parts exploded. Ordered a full obd2 and diagnostic scanner to see if that sheds light. Any ideas out there while I wait?

Best,

W

Does your reader scan for pending codes?
I thought it did, but that’s also why I ordered a better one. The only code it threw was immobilzer once but i think I was just impatient and hadn’t waited for the chip to be read.

If you just had the intake off I would recheck all the connections, coil packs, vacuum lines, etc.
Agreed. I also have done the starter in the last six months so I see that process in my sleep now smh… level 10 v8 yoga doing those jobs by yourself… my poor forearms

I suggest cleaning the throttle body and MAF, every time I have seen this behavior cleaning those fixed it. Could also be a bad leak at the manifold gaskets but then I would expect it to rev up high above idle, not shut off. Also pull the battery negative terminal for a few minutes to reset the ECU if you haven't already.

Already cleaned those and reset the ECU. Waiting for my new scanner to come.

Had the same issue after breaking my coolant temp sensor. Fixed that and everything was normal again.

That would be dreamy if that fixed it. They’re only like $20 ;) I have it connected again, but maybe it needed all the plastic crap that disintegrated?

Something interesting happened with the throttle box this time. When I put the key on an electric hum happens that appears to be coming from the throttle box. If I unplug on the opposite side at the throttle cable and plug it back in quits, but it starts to make the noise again most of the times when I turn the key off and on.
