UPDATES!

1. I called Ed and he is all caught up and ready to produce the cloth seat covers for the first row ONLY. He said he has a good tan and grey option right now. This is for non-airbag equipped front seats, years 98-05 ONLY. He has patterns for both front seats, headrest, armrest and center console IIRC.

He said to call him to get the details sorted and orders placed. I would suggest that anyone interested call him and work out the details. Contact info on his site: Wolfmans Auto and Cycle Seats - https://hotrodupholstery.com/

2. Ed wants to provide covers for the airbag equipped 06/07 model years. He has the know how and materials (special thread and kevlar) but he needs one OEM seat back cover (either Cruiser or LX470, must be 2006 or 2007) so he can take them apart and make patterns.

3. Ed also wants to start offering 2nd row replacement covers in both leather and cloth. BUT he needs the access to a 2nd row for a short amount of time to make the patterns. He is located in Christiansburg VA (near Virginia Tech) so if there's anyone down that way that can let him borrow their 2nd row, or better yet needs their 2nd row redone, please let him know. He had a guy lined up but it never panned out. If anyone has replaced their 2nd row, sending him the OEM covers is also an option.

I was really hoping to get the first set but I'm going to need ones for airbag equipped seat, so I'll have to wait a bit.

Thanks for everyone's patience and feedback. If you get one of the first sets, please post up photos etc. I'll ask Ed for some pics of the covers as well.

IM his contact info to me.

I’m in NC but VA Tech is only 2 hours from me. I have an ‘06 LX and it’s my secondary vehicle and currently in the garage on the lift being overhauled for maintenance. I can take him any seats or covers he needs to make templates.

I really want cloth seat replacements. My leather is actually still in great condition but I just hate leather seats.

I was just thinking to myself last night that I was such a hoarder for keeping my whole interior in a box after I replaced it years ago. I just threw it all away a couple months ago because there was no way I needed to use it again because it wasn’t in a condition I would use. I guess I’ll have to start saving every old part again just in case :-)

Has anybody received or installed covers, leather or cloth?
Any pictures?
I've sent a message on their website contact earlier today requesting availability and price for tan cloth on both front seats and possibly armrest.
I'll update when I receive a response.

I installed the leather seat bottom covers in my 2006. Fitment and quality is fantastic. The passenger seat has wrinkles due to extra foam i added on the bolsters. If I hadn't steamed the foam back into shape it would have been perfect fit. Driver seat I only steamed the factory foam. (No extra foam added).

As I and several others on this thread have mentioned, just pick up the phone and call Ed if you have questions. He's extremely patient and helpful and it will make the inquiry process way faster and more accurate for all parties.

Sorry if I missed it, but was there a reason you finally went with leather? I really appreciate all the leg work here and the end product does admittedly look great, but I was really hoping to see a quality velour-ish option happen…

I did those seat bottoms a year ago before the cloth seating option was available.

Ed can make you whatever seat covers you want. Just have to call him to discuss material choice etc. Post up pics if you end up getting some made.

I spoke with him about a month ago and sent him my contact info…. haven’t heard a word since.

+1 on Wolfman's - Ed was great to work with, and ended up making me a custom darker grey to match the darker 01 OEM color.

Question - Appears I stripped one of the back two seat anchor mounts upon reinstall (doh) - any ideas on how to correct this? I think tap and die is the answer, just wondering if anybody has actually done this previously and can provide specifics? Thanks.

I'd recommend chasing with a M10x1.25 tap first to see if the threads will clean up prior to re-tapping a different size. I've taken to chasing the seat mounting holes whenever I pull the seats to clean things up and prevent stripping them out.

Xcel concerns (for me): 78% polyester/22% nylon.
hear/sweat is my biggest concern.

polyester CAN be very moisture trapping depending on the grade. shamefully copied from gemini AI: "Some cheaper polyester fabrics are not designed for performance and can trap heat and moisture against your skin, making them feel uncomfortable".

also from my (un)trusted above source: [when/if] "polyester wicks moisture, it can also accumulate oils and fatty acids from sweat, which can lead to a persistent "synthetic stink".

finally, from the above source: "...some nylon fabrics can help keep you dry, but others are not good for high-sweat activity..."

Back in the "day", on cross country beer fueled college trips in a '70s subaru (read no AC, plastic seats), i would cut up cardboard and use that as seat covers. sure abosorbed the moisture:doh:

for me: leaning twards Escape Gear covers....100% cotton. Probably will have to periodically wash, but the hassle is worth it for me.

These are valid concerns regarding 'cheaper polyester fabrics'. I think for the Xcel fabric, the big question for Ed would be "are these cheap fabrics?". Ed has plenty of fabrics to choose from if you call and talk with him, he may be able to recommend a good pairing for heat/sweat mitigation. If you find anything please post up!

When I last spoke with Ed, he was planning to offer a standard fabric option along the lines of the Xcel, or similar fabric.

OR

he will make a set of any fabric you want - obviously costs vary with material choice.

I still plan to get a set of cloth (not sure which type yet) seats from him in the future. Hopefully someone goes through on a set and can post up pics and a review. I'm just not to that point in my build.
