Any updates on this? Really hoping an alternative is found besides leather!
I just installed cordura covers, the wrinkles have gotten a bit better. I know it's not a carpet / fabric option but worth considering.

Sorry - it totally slipped my mind. I'll give Ed a call on Monday and update everyone.

quick update. spoke with Ed - he's still putting together some fabric options but wants to talk tomorrow after he looks at them some more. I mentioned some of the ideas posed by the forum like a modern fabric replacement and also the bus seat style fabrics and he thought that was neat. Doesn't sound like there's anything he wouldn't do. I'm going to get the brand/fabric lines he usually sources and then I'll have an idea what he has regular access to.

stay tuned....

Count me in! I really want to ditch the leather seats for cloth.

Definitely in for this if Ed can pull through

I'd be in for cloth replacements for front and rear seats. I was just looking at replacements since my factory leather covers are about done, and I know the cloth seats seem cooler to the touch during these hot Texas summers.

UPDATE! - don't get too excited though - nothing material happening until the fall.

Spoke with Ed for a while today. He is committed to making us all a cloth seat option, however, he is backed up on custom jobs at the moment and as such it won't be a reality until this fall (in his estimation). I have it on my calendar to call him mid september and see where things are.

In speaking with him, he plans to have 2 options:

1. A modern fabric replacement for the leather covers - grey or tan options. He has found a good number of fabrics for the grey colors but he's still working on a tan that he likes. He said he's looking for the best mix of durability, value and appearance. This would be the standard fabric option he would offer and the most economical option.

2. Custom fabric covers. I asked and he confirmed that if someone wants a specific fabric (bus seat style fabrics, sparkly unicorn fabric, etc) he can procure the fabric and make a one-off set.

For anyone who wants to look up fabric options online he has been looking at a few different fabric lines:

Sites Ed recommended:

Sonoma

Grandtex

Xcel - extreme durability option. Anyone with pets on the seats/abusing the interior would want to consider this option, per Ed.

That's it for now. Suggestions and more fabric ideas are welcome and I'll relay it to Ed. I let him know there's a good bit of interest on the forum and he was apologetic that he can't move this along faster, but as I said previously, this is something he's committed to do and has been on his wishlist even before I reached out.

Oooo, do want that XCEL Sandstone

Awesome that these may become a reality in the near future! Also have to agree with others that the XCEL Sandstone seems like a great option for those of use with a tan interior. The Med Neutral may also be a cool option if it’s matches the darker brown on the tan interiors.

Exactly what I was thinking. Would also probably look better after some use too.

Sounds like guys who like durable trucks like durable interiors too. Start with the XCEL and use the funds from sales to venture into the more one-off cloth interiors, odds are the tougher covers will sell well even outside of these forums.

Any updates here? I’m in for sure if this will be like OEM replacement. I have a Prado interior style fabric in mind I’ll post up but beggars can’t be choosers!

I'm also a buyer for the tan fabric interior. My leather is in rough shape and needs replacement.

I've grown to hate my leather, my ridies are only a few years old and already look like hell. Between sweat, UV, and daily driver wear and tear, leather just doesn't hold up very well for me. Not to mention, hot and sticky.

If the fabric as good as the Japanese do there at the factory, I'll consider fabric seats. My 92 prizm/sprinter, 97 4runner and 1990 Hilux fabric seats are still looks new and pleasant looking.
