Well, I found another variable.

My Yoda doesn't 'pull' so good; as it is now.....

Compression was measured in the lower 110's.

Yeah that's the problem right there.

X2 Brian is right- a 20% loss in compression of a "good" benchmark number equates to maybe a 25 h.p. loss. Yikes!

With 33's as mine also at 50 on the speedo you are really going 60 mph as the speedo is off with those tires................Yes mine is slow too-but better without brake drag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many years ago, I timed my FJ60 (at 7000' elevation). 0-60 took 40 seconds. After I put in a much-newer engine, it dropped to 26 seconds. So, I told my hot-rodding friends to 'ask me how I shaved 14 seconds off my 0-60 time'. They looked puzzled.

So, earlier today, I picked up my son and asked him to time the Yoda from the stop light for a 0 - 60 mph run. He used my iPhone, started the timer app.... And waited for the light to turn green....

So, off we go ! The 2F is turning the 33's over as forcefully as it can..... And 1 minute later, he stopped the timer and says, maybe next time you'll get to 60MPH dad. I only got to about 50 MPH....

So, what about the rest of you guys & gals?

It may be slow, but it can go anywhere....right?

Ran a 5K this morning and came across this sticker. I remembered this thread, so I snapped a photo. Want to know how long it takes from 0 to 60.......

It wasn't on a FJ40, rather a Honda Fit, but felt it was apropos for this thread! Albeit their 0 to 60 is mileage and not mph.

My truck can get to 60 with stock gearing and stock sized tires, but it's not too interested in going faster. So I guess it'll do 0 to 60 in about ... Yes.

Saw one of those type of stickers on a 60. So naturally when I bought my 80 I added one as well :flipoff2:

:hmm:
When I took mine to the drag strip a long time ago, I had a crappy holley carb and a header. I pulled 21 seconds with 33 inch tires at 5000 feet altitude. Now that I have fuel injection on it, its a bit faster, and I get 16mpg with 35 inch tires doing 70.
What was your trap speed?

I've seen those (or similar) on a lot of VW Buses. :D

My gasser cruises have always felt similar to my old 1600 bus power-wise. But then again, I used to drive that old bus at 80mph on the freeway and people used to ask me what I had in it to make it go that fast. Just a strong engine and a heavy right foot, I guess.

If You can't easily achieve 65mph+ on the flats in your f/2F powered 40 series, you have something wrong. Secondaries working?

44 will go much faster now... she's running again!!

I'll take her out in the next few days and report back... after I wrap up some electrical stuff.

When driving a 40, one should be much more concerned with going from 60-0 than 0-60. Nothing is more terrifying than when some idiot cuts in front of you and you have to stand on the brakes.

:hmm:

Maybe if I add a "Line-Lock", and "speed-shift" all the gear changes (crunch!) I might get under 20 secs to 60mph, LOL! I'm in no hurry, but if I want a speed rush, I run my dragbike: 0-60 in 1.5sec, 0-115 in 6.0, 0-145 in 9.4. whew!:D
