Not my 80. Well not part of it yet.

Now to find the drivers side. Sad thing is Ive had 2 parts trucks and sold both sides of each of them years ago.

Coney Flats is not a very hard trail, but it can get ugly in the rain. That's how I bent my radius arms up :hillbilly:
True and kind of why I thought I would run it to test the 80 before something bigger. Was hoping for moody hill and crystal mountain since a little closer but it seems everything up north is closed from the fire. That rain Thursday was crazy up there.

Playing in the shop today.

what do you get when you tear apart a household fan and use the switch. Add a micro switch and two connectors from the ABS pump and throw them in a plastic electrical box?

Monday I have to drop it at the machine shop to remove the little lip on the center bore, and for now Ill just swap it with a beat up one that is in the 80

And as I was doing it, I realized something looks weird with my driver side

I dont believe this is stock, since it doesn't mach the pax side. Looks like PO did something about his shakey mirror in the past

Front suspension upgrade time.

OME 850 compared to the Dobinson new style dual rate 3.5" lift.

omedob.jpg

I ran the 850 with 1.5" spacers. So, lift of the 850+1.5" is similar to the Dobs 3.5". Dobs look a bit higher, but presumably will settle with some use and time.

drop.jpg

Given the free length of the Dobs and also installing new King shocks we needed to really drop the front suspension. Only way to get it to drop all the way was to pull the panhard bolt out since the panhard binds as it tries to rotate when lowering the axle all the way. You can see the panhard sitting level with the axle in the above picture. Also disconnected the sway bar. Having 2 floor jacks was very nice for a) raising/lowering the vehicle and b) raising/lowering one side versus the other to ease the removal and reinstall of the panhard bolt.

One dobs installed. Close to maxing out the extended brake lines and ABS sensor cable, just long enough.

king.jpg

King with remote reservoir with adjuster mounted. My older son works at King so it was nice to let him do all the install work for the shock :) Still trying to decide whether to apply the stickers that he brought with him.

Worker bees mounting one of the wheels back on, job complete.

Passenger side view with vehicle weight on the suspension. You can see the top coils of the springs packed together. Front of our 80 has an ARB roobar, M12k winch, dual batteries and s/c. So, a few hundred lbs over 'stock'.

Have only driven it a bit (since we did the install today), but the dobs definitely ride very nicely over bumps and dips. Combined with the shocks it doesn't wallow when driving across a dip at an angle. The wheels articulate, but the body doesn't rock . I like it :)

Happy and safe 4th to all.

cheers,
george.

You were likely over the limit for this bridge. The curb weight of an 80 series is 4760 lbs. Curb weight includes all the standard equipment and amenities, however this weight does not include any cargo or passengers. ... Gross vehicle weight on the other hand includes the added weight of passengers and cargo which is 6525 lbs. With your front bumper and winch you are probably over that. 1 ton equals 2000 lbs. 3 tons equal 6000 lbs. OOPS!

Thank you for the Solvefunction link. I had just mounted new White Knuckle sliders and didn't know what to do on the front bumper cover. Great idea.
