What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Installed drilled and slotted Powerstop rotors. Discovered the two inside pistons on the driver side caliper were seized. I tried to get them out for a while but gave up and went with the Napa calipers. OEM Toyota pads, new master cylinder and brake booster. Definitely stops better but I've probably still got air in the ABS as usual so will need to hit some gravel soon.

When the wife and kids are away the boys will play! Got to install 2.5” lift on this clean 60 and troubleshooting P0401 on this clean 94 collector with a 1fz and cloth!

We found a place I'm calling Sneaky Creek just about an hour's drive from home for an impromptu 4x4 camping and fishing weekend. I love having a truck that can go places that RV trailers can't, and I love being a public landowner.

Lost my firewall grommet 🙃
Any ideia where can I buy another one? Amazon dont seem to have the proper size
Seals-it makes a full line of generic firewall grommets. Good quality but not inexpensive for what they are.

They come in a bunch of sizes. You may need to do a little research to find the right size and profile. A heads up - the Seals-it site is terrible and their tech specs aren't consistent part to part (don't include the same details/ measurements). I had better luck sizing on the Summit site.

Hauled new tires to and from the tire store to be mounted on the FJ60. Retained the old 255/85/16 Geolanders and had them mounted on some extra rims that I'll occasionally run on the 80. Tires for the 60 are mounted on 70 series wheels.

Did my own shock mount repair. Just happened to have a stainless rod with a metric thread and nut that was the perfect diameter. Cut the mangled mount back, filled the hole with a bit of welding rod and completed what seems to be my first attempt to ever stick weld. Nothing caught on fire including myself so I consider it a success. My 80 now has 4 broken drill bits and the tip of a back out tool in it's DNA:hillbilly: should have just welded in a threaded from from the beginning, that or stuck with the drill and tap approach I stated with and somehow drifted from.

Replaced old charcoal canister with ac Delco sp1 and new lines, no more gas tank pressure!!! Also replaced ac idler pulley thinking it would fix a loud whine when at higher rpms?? Not sure the cause but will continue to investigate.

Ignoring failing clear coat on fenders, hood, elsewhere and pinstripes everywhere else, I decided to take on something wildly simple and unnecessary...polished the turn signals on my HDJ81. Safety first, right?

Sometimes you need an easy win, right?

Meanwhile I'm waiting for a new radiator (thanks @Onur for posting the p/n a while back) and harmonic balancer (why not?). I'm starting to think this truck is determined to drain my bank account. It sure seems to be making progress toward that goal.
