Front suspension upgrade time.
OME 850 compared to the Dobinson new style dual rate 3.5" lift.
I ran the 850 with 1.5" spacers. So, lift of the 850+1.5" is similar to the Dobs 3.5". Dobs look a bit higher, but presumably will settle with some use and time.
Given the free length of the Dobs and also installing new King shocks we needed to really drop the front suspension. Only way to get it to drop all the way was to pull the panhard bolt out since the panhard binds as it tries to rotate when lowering the axle all the way. You can see the panhard sitting level with the axle in the above picture. Also disconnected the sway bar. Having 2 floor jacks was very nice for a) raising/lowering the vehicle and b) raising/lowering one side versus the other to ease the removal and reinstall of the panhard bolt.
One dobs installed. Close to maxing out the extended brake lines and ABS sensor cable, just long enough.
King with remote reservoir with adjuster mounted. My older son works at King so it was nice to let him do all the install work for the shock

Still trying to decide whether to apply the stickers that he brought with him.
Worker bees mounting one of the wheels back on, job complete.
Passenger side view with vehicle weight on the suspension. You can see the top coils of the springs packed together. Front of our 80 has an ARB roobar, M12k winch, dual batteries and s/c. So, a few hundred lbs over 'stock'.
Have only driven it a bit (since we did the install today), but the dobs definitely ride very nicely over bumps and dips. Combined with the shocks it doesn't wallow when driving across a dip at an angle. The wheels articulate, but the body doesn't rock . I like it
Happy and safe 4th to all.
cheers,
george.
