for those that have never seen my truck in person, here it is in his driveway next to a larger than stock 80Ok so whilst on my way to overland expo in NC I detected or perceived a vibration and after getting out about 6 times and rolling out my @Overland Tailor ground tarp (awesome little set up indeed) I said EFF IT really loud and turned the 37 in tires northward. not sure why but I kept getting an image of a tow truck driver pulling up and saying " you want me to tow that thing" I headed north to upstate new york the area made famous by thousands of ner do well hippies, smoking pot, having sex at random and newly up and coming rock stars all congregated WOODSTOCK, well its changed a tad. But deep in the mountains lives a man, many have thought of as a mythical figure somehow perhaps simply part of the matrix, not a figure a mere mortal could actually meet. yes yes you may have guessed correctly it is BENO, hidden away off of very curvy and tight roads surrounded by rushing streams and large dams. Was a house with several iterations of land cruiser I knew this was the place. After several transactions for real OEM and hard to find parts Beno had mentioned I should stop by some time, and on my last trip when a caliper bolt bailed on me on the blue ridge skyway he offered a place to fix the truck. I had yet to take him up on his offers. But after this failed trip (first time ever) I did turn my sights to the legendary spot of woodstock and much like meeting Ghandi or Yoda or hell even Cruiser Dan there he stood phone in hand explaining some mathematical equation to another cruiser owner in some far off land(no doubt) Onur or as we know him BENO an I was very happy to discover parts I had ordered before rolling out were there. I had replaced my stock leaking steering gear with a REMANNED oem and after a few months it too is failing, and I had always wanted to upgrade to the 105 shaft and arm. So beno made it happen and it was far less than rumors had led me to believe, also after replacing and destroying several(or maybe 2) double cardon drive shafts I went all out and got a NEW DC for a tacoma that will be built into a brand new double cardon, yea I did that, also I got a new rear driveshaft which was slightly more than 2 OEM u joints. at any rate after tossing Beno the keys we took my truck down to a local brewery where we regaled the staff with stories of land cruiser awesomeness etc and Beno gave me his impressions of the truck all were quite favorable except simply pulling the fuse for the ABS apparently isnt enough IN MY CASE, so Im going to yank the entire unit. and I will be installing my whiteline front sway bar before looking once again at springs, even tho she was loaded down for the expo, the term "wallowy" To move with difficulty in a clumsy or rolling manner; flounder: "The car wallowed back through the slush, with ribbons of bright water trickling down the windshield from the roof" was used to describe the LCs behavior on turns etc " So hopefully with the inclusion of the front sway bar it will help if not Ill be hitting up Dobinsons or the like again. and now for serious cruiser porn. alos out of all the very knowledgable techs that Ive spoken with in person, this was the only one that actual said let me drive it and Ill let you know. a smart approach I thought.
