Ok after a couple of years I finally bought the cruiser from a friend since he ignored a radiator leak and blew head gasket. I just started restoring it a bit so Granny and I can take off west for a few months but.
I am also at the end of building a house and can use funds to finish up. Only rust I find is right behind the rear tires. I think a typical spot and will have to get pictures since I just decided to possibly sell it 10 minutes ago. Below are some things that a previous owner did. Not my friend. He just drove it and let it set up for a couple years.
rebuilt the motor at 125K (all felpro gaskets).
40over with 10:1 compression pistons I got in japan
completely rebuilt head
clifford cam (off road grind)
Holley 350 cfm...

Many have probably scrolled through my previous post's for this truck, so it may seem familiar, although due to a number of issues discovered during the sales process last December a substantial bit of work has been completed.
To start, I am a Merchant Mariner. This means I work for 3 months at a time and then come home for approximately the same time. Reluctantly selling my Freeborn Red 84 FJ60. This truck is dependable and runs great. I've been using it as my daily driver for 6.5 years now and its never left me stranded. It's sharp black/freeborn red paint scheme turns heads everywhere you drive. That being said, this is not a showroom truck so there is no need to baby it. So I just bought an FJ60 off from this sight so my 62 has to go. It's a sad day for sure, but unfortunately, my mechanical ability is limited to loving (and not fixing) these awesome vehicles. In my opinion, I am giving this thing away to make the wife happy and freeing the space in my garage. I will also post on craigslist, etc. but it sure would be nice to get this to someone who appreciates her and will make her great. I have taken this to at least 5 mechanics for various work (haven't been able to find that true FJ guy), but all have said this beast will go forever. I have (or at least will) post as many pics as possible when I figure out how, and will answer any questions.

This gorgeous FJ62 is in remarkable shape for its age, and it is very evident that the vehicle has been well cared for. This ZERO RUST truck has had a fairly recent original color repaint. It shows well and has a very nice clean look to it, in spite of a few very minor dings on the passenger side doors and rear gate. Putting out some feelers to see if anyone would be interested in taking over a project i started a couple weeks ago. Drives well interior is a 9/10, typical rust area on quarter panels, frame solid with surface rust. I am looking a possibly going another route as I have my eye on another cruiser fully restored.

Not mine. I'm not too in tune with 60 prices these days, but if this is a local car then it probably doesnt have any rust and 181K is nice for 33 years old. May be worth investigating.

Put this truck together many years ago and the customer is now selling it, GS Cruisers provided the engine transmission and if memory serves me it has a Marks 4WD output shaft in the transmission. Turbo had been gone through by Fred Holmes, bottom end bearings done.
At the time of the conversion, we did a paint job over a rust free original red paint. The build thread is floating around mud somewhere..
I think he under priced it and it will sell fast.
