Which brand of weld through primer did you use? The stuff we used on my son’s bumper project welded sooty, but we got decent beads laid down. I’m skeptical about how well it will prevent rust (and we llive in Colorado, so don’t have the salt issues as badly as you have) but I’m hopeful that it’ll help.

This thread has depth and honesty beyond any other. Your tenacious grit is your superpower.
Thank you for the beautiful compliment. ❤️

Worked today... building is upwards of 30+ covid. Mentally f’d. No cleaning up those welds after work. Ran for a fast grab of groceries and going to pass out on couch. Going back at it tmrw only because they offered $100 extra each shift we pick up. Not hazard pay as of yet. We had it months ago but it got shut off June 25. Bridge of my nose is bruised from the N95 Metal thingy, facial skin getting roughed up from the mask edges, ears hurt from the straps, soon I’ll have zits across my forehead from the foam band on the shield... I’ve rubbed enough purel on my hands and arms to probably fill a 4 ounce bottle in the last few days. But yeah, at least I’m still negative after every weekly test. Couple deaths already too. I had to call a family today whose relative tested positive only yesterday to tell them that their parent was possibly not going to make it through the night and if they wanted to come see her they could. They couldn’t believe it was only the covid.

It IS at least nice to see the leaves changing color. Smidge early because it’s been so dry since July the trees are just giving up.

‘98 Tacoma.... Driving to work the last couple days I heard a higher pitched rattle that came and went and sspt noise. Figured it was exhaust. Got under it a bit ago and found a large metal hose clamp loose on the down pipe section. Reached around and found an O2 sensor plate loose, no nuts. Deduced quickly. Only the ring from a gasket remained. Found nuts and lock washers first grab in my extras 60 stuff, exact fit. Grabbed a graphite gasket meant for the egr pipe... smidge too big. Found the sample piece from a remflex manifold gasket, made a pattern, cut and installed.
Bah bam! job. :)

There I am hefting the manifolds back on and I look down and start laughing... no exhaust j pipe to attach it to. And yes, that’s a double gasket job, just shhhhh.

Ground my s***ty welds down and replaced. Still blows. Gotta be the oil I doused the inside of the frame somehow affecting it. Fair amount of smoke. Whatever. I could be at this for longer than I want to say. I’m trying to dress up a pig.

 That stinks... Really.
It’s what it is.
What stinks worse.... my work, Harrington Court in Colchester, CT has made national news for our covid cases. Somehow I’m still negative. The aide I worked w/ two days before our first two cases tested positive on 9/15, tested positive Wed. If I’m not next week, I’ll be amazed. Handful of deaths already.

Good deed for the day.... helped my covid + coworker (the aide prev mentioned) move today from a beautiful older log cabin on many acres downsize to a townhouse. All her family bailed on her. She’s in her early 70’s! I couldn’t not help. We both wore N95’s and got it done. Filled a small uhaul. I packed it like a jigsaw puzzle. Was fun actually. Thank god for her hand truck and my rachet straps; her new place has stairs so we definitely needed the wheels. Not too bad. She’d ditched a lot of stuff. We put a few things in the bed of the taco too. House has tons of potential but needs mega work. She asked for 249k and the buyers willingly gave her 259k. Amazing!

Her dad who we had at our place many years ago was a painter and she let me pick one out. I love the reds as will Sal. And after I picked it I found out he’d done it the same year my daughter was born, ‘97. Long day!

I’m going back this week for a fairly large Sentinal metal gun safe to use for tools in my garage. She doesn’t want it. Friend on mine will help tho cuz it’s awkward.

No words. That was an amazing gesture of selflessness. Good on you!

And NOW my sons dad decides they should keep him this week.... more than likely kids already been exposed and carried it over there. I told him a week and a half ago I was literally in the face of people dying of covid (wearing a face shield and N95). I told him to keep the kid away from his parents and he said “they know, they’re okay w/ it....” My ex’s girlfriend is 62 years old too so he’s worried about her as well. Oh well, I’ll get some wrenching time in!

It’s our acts that define us. Nice work, Felicity.

Make up some ground! You have no excuses, you have been worthless with your wrenching up to this point 😉😄
