Welp she's back in place. Ooof was I stressed! Apparently internally cuz when I apologised after my friends said 'that was stressed?'
We didn't get pixs of the movement onto the block which is a bummer. My two guy friends helped hover it and I was leaning way in to help line it up. My gf (who is w/ one of the guys) was trying to help me cuz the stool I was on chose at that moment to do it's fold up trick so she was holding it for me. We used a stretch of 2x4 50" long to fit between the hood hinges.
(Prior to install I followed the tip Fred gave me about oiling the threads and wiping some off, threading it in and watching if oil migrated to the top. He said if it did to unthread it, wipe the bolt clean, clean out the hole as much as I could and try again w/ less. It clicked and I did the same amount after install for each on a clean flannel rag).
Once everyone left I got moving on the new head bolts torque sequencing thanks to
@OSS, and his awesome text guidance. And thank god for my ugly tube bumper. I was able to get some leverage on it for a few awkward bolts once I was at 90ft/lbs.
Then I had a mini heart attack moment when I pulled the one new push rod from its Toyota bag (#4 had a pretty hefty gouge and was bent) and saw the very obvious difference in the shape of the cup from the original ones. Thanks to
@beno for his prompt response reassuring me that it was indeed the right part. My cutting costs hopefully won't hurt me in the long run. He and Toyota apparently recommend replacing the rods in bulk. Doh.
Rocker assembly is on. And tossed on the cover for the time being.
Manifolds need some cleaning up before mating back together.
Mosquitos made me quit for the night.... to be continued after work tmrw.
