LOL!

Because these are not JDM parts, but intended for 3rd-world countryies or the Middle-East.;)

So by the time you get the step and reinforcement(?) each step would be costing you close to $50, plus shipping. And since they would not be plastic, it would not be too cheap to send, either.

I disclosed those prices instead of my skyrocketedly-marked up prices, because I don't think anybody would be crazy enough to actually go after them. :hillbilly:

I know what just got added to my Christmas list. :hmm:

(Better PM me your skyrocketedly-marked up price. :D )

those are pretty common down here in Costa Rica too, I'll see if the p/n comes up at my local dealer.... costs aren't likely to be lower, but shipping might be cheaper/faster as it can go ground in a week or so.

As it was with the OEM snorkel deal, I would not be surprised one bit if the costs are s(significantly) cheaper outside of Japan/N.America/Europe. ;)

Keep us posted!

Bump...

Would one of our non-US vendors care to throw out a price for a complete set of 6 steps, brackets and bolts for an FZJ80?

For whatever reason those of us in the US seem to have a desire for all of the bits and pieces that Toyota USA denied us of.

I just remembered that I've inquired of some of those parts a couple of months ago and the cost from Toyota were:

61054-60020: 3,600 yen
61058-60010: 4,000 yen
61068-60010: 4,000 yen
61684-60030: 500 yen
61686-60010: 800 yen
61679-60011: 600 yen

That wasn't good enough? :D

If you need to get the exact amount for all the pieces that are listed above by you, let me know.

If you're interested in acquiring a set even after seeing the prices listed above by me I'll be happy to get their current prices/availabilities for you. ;)

Mot was more than happy to offer to take my money away from me.

Would you really want/need them on both sides? I can't tell from the photos if they are using 3 or 6 of these but it would seem that 3, one side or the other, would be plenty.

The ones I see here in Iraq only have them on one side. Usually the passenger side. I only need (want)passenger side. I weigh 240lbs and I climbed on that UN cruisers steps (notice bullet hole in fender well)wearing all my armor and gear. Pretty solid steps. They will work perfect with the bumper and roof rack I have planned.

My secret plan is to use the top rung on both sides as rear tie down points for my rackless LineX roof.

So... Something in the range of $300 + international shipping for a set of 6 complete with bolts? Hmm...

Thinking it through though, the bottom rung on both sides would be rather pointless with my Slee rear bumper.

Mot, would you be able to do just the center and top rungs, both sides, with all related mounting hardware (inside plates, bolts, other)?

It will have to wait until I'm done with the exhaust or the :princess: would skin me alive.

did we even find part numbers for the inside plates?

those curved shims are chrome plated for the outside of the c pillar (or is it d pillar .. :hmm: ) I believe.

Sorry to post again. Im a nubie and it 2am here. I have noticed the ones I see on 80's have that cheesy aluminum looking backing or ornament. The ornament or backing on the 100's are almost color matched to the vehicle. Maybe painted I'm not sure I have more photos of them on the 100's.

Update:

Well, guess what?

My fear came true as Toyota is requesting that I show them a proof (registration) that the vehicle in which these parts were meant for is actually in Japan!

I tried another Toyota parts place in town and they said that even if I had the registration their system showed that the PN's were not even legitimate! (I didn't have the heart to tell them that they were all "valid" at the other place).

ANYWAY, I'm not done trying to get them just yet!
I'm trying to pull the last string and see if I still can't get them before calling it a day. :hillbilly:

But don't hold your breath!

What confuses me... If it is in their system and they can source and sell it over the counter for cash, why would they care which vehicle it's going to be put on?

I'm probably WAAAY off on this, but it could be that Toyota doesn't want some ass clown like myself selling parts to people in the areas where those parts were not meant to be had and potentially ruining the local suppliers' profit, etc...

I said "potentially" because with the case of the OEM snorkel, sourcing one in the Middle East was FAR cheaper than getting it here.

Sandcruiser hasn't posted up his luck either yet, so maybe he can still get 'em.

TMC (parent company, Japan) is very protective of marketing areas for a number of reasons.

They want to protect the interests of the distributor in that part of the world to make sure that they are not under-cut by third parties that will try to buy stuff and "grey-market" import the merchandise into that market, circumventing the distributor.
In addition many items need to be "tested and approved" by a particular market's governing body before they can be sold in that market. As a result of this items from another market will not have been "certified" for the destination market and Toyota does not want to generate a liability by shipping them into a market where they do not have certification.

On the other hand, as explained by Mot, Toyota will support "visiting" or "privately imported" vehicles that are not in the original market if it can be established that the vehicle in question is really in the country. This is an involved process that can take several weeks to complete.

And just when you think you've sen all the cool non-USA parts these come along. Those are sweet. It would be even sweeter if someone could actually get us some.
