I don't think the shop wanted the business. That's at least $3k more than the highest estimate I've heard of for a 1fz. Is it really all that much more difficult on the 3fe?Called a top quality specialist Cruiser shop and asked them their price for a head gasket job on a 3FE - $4500. Lots of good engines out there for less than that. So if the HG goes, it'll be cheaper to replace with a new/used 3FE, I'm betting. God Knows what they would want to rebuild the engine.

Heh.Close- I bought a rebuilt SC and installed it. Turns out the engine is ruining great. Just need to go through all the cooling mod checklist.
