Hi all,
I've just rebuilt the engine on my 1990 HDJ80. This of course required removal of the power steering.
Everything is back and running well except the power steering. I have put new fluid and with the car on stands (under the diff) I added the power steering fluid.
I checked the fluid level, all good, turned the steering from lock to lock multiple times to bleed it and all seemed well.
When I lower the vehicle on to the tyres the steering becomes impossibly heavy.
I turn the wheel to the left lock, Ok. Then I turn towards the right and get 5 deg past centre and the steering binds.
I lean on the steering wheel and eventually get to right lock but it is not driveable.
When I move the vehicle out of the garage to check further the point where if binds changes. Sometimes left side, sometimes right.
I've checked the steering linkages and nothing is contacting.
I did a swivel hub rebuild at the same time and steering pre-load was correct.
This is driving me crazy.
Anyone got ideas, . . . . . please?
