I have already replaced the valve cover gasket. I keep finding the oil pan bolts a little loose. Very couple of weeks, I get back under there and re torque them. I also have the gasket coming for the rod cover.
Awesome.
I would identify the source of the leak before jumping into an oil pan gasket replacement. Many things above it could be contributing to the drops you are seeing.
Looks good
I work with a charity called Boone Brothers that takes harvested deer/ turns them into meat sticks that are distributed to needy kids directly through schools. 21% of the kids in KY are protein deficient. Our goal is 250,000 packs of two sticks...
Couple pics from staging before the run started. I'm not generally a fan of large group runs, but full credit to the organizers here. They did a good job keeping things moving with 30 rigs!
Couldn't remember the last thing I've done to the 80 outside of oil changes. Checked my records and it was a window rocket 10/1/25.
Weather getting colder so it was finally time to wire up the seat heater. Only took me almost 2 years of sitting...
I made miso soup by soaking my front seat belts in very hot water. 36 years of soy sauce, coffee boss, tofu with ponzu sauce, yakatori and other japanese food delight droppings. Much nicer, and the reel in is much smoother. Now, on to find the...
Ran an 80 focused trail run in Central Oregon known as 80s on Edison. Never seen this many 80s in one place. Probably 25 80s, with a few 70s and a 40 as well. Not too many pics but here is one for posterity while we were stopped BS'ing. Good...
I’ve been rockin this guy for a year. I dig it

Ours are on sale AND the full bull bar is removable (in sections) so it makes it easier to replace light bulbs, light housings or work on anything else in the grill area.
I've been using a koyorad for the last 6 months. It's been fine, in 100 degree heat. Even with a very broken fan shroud! Will it hold up over numerous years-who knows. If the Denso unit was still brass I would've brought it. Since it's also...
Ive got a 96 with 212,000 miles on it and as far as I can tell besides brake pads nothing has been done with the brakes according to the service records I have. Today as I was leaving a parking lot my brake pedal went to the floor and I lost my...
My spindles were the same condition.
I found these to be a very high quality replacement:

Since this thread got bumped it's a good excuse for some minor updates. I haven't really changed much for a few years. The truck still just works for what I do. Its sitting about about 330K miles so occasionally there's something that needs to...
I've been using an Ancel BS300 (capacitor) in my 80s. It helps with starting when it has been sitting around where I cant hook up a trickle tender.
Bit pricey but its a great peace of mind when your out in middle of no where.
A battery that has dropped to 2V has been permanently destroyed. Even if it can charged it's not going to be a reliable battery. Start with a new battery then test the alternator.
It takes a long time to bring a battery that dead back up.
The voltage being over 14v makes me think your alternator is doing the best it can with such a depleted battery.
Best thing would be to put a charger on the battery and see if it recovers.
Yeah makes sense. This is a picture when I bought it. Weird how it seems to sit lower in the rear. The side steps are very heavy! I'll be putting them back on next month. I was thinking of going 17" wheel with a 285/75/17 tire to keep it at...
Hang a big bumper and tire carrier off the back end. Maybe add a can carrier? High lift? Fridge in the back?
It can come at you quick!
I raised my front because my springs were crusty, and now that i’ve accessorized a bit it’s time to get some...
Once my new space is done and operational, I’ll be running these again. After several years of design/engineering/prototypes and several production runs with slight tweaks to further dial things in, they’re the best they’ve ever been. No frame...
