What sort of mods are you doing to a 606 to get this power range? This seems over triple the factory torque specs, right? What ballpark cost are we talking?
No clue.
Diesels are magic. Pour fuel to them, they make more power. That's through injectors and the injection pump.
EGT's too hot? Push more air through with a better turbo. Still too hot, dump water down the hole. Most people dont do water injection, you only really see that on rigs pulling sleds.
Matt has a pump and a turbo. I'd wager he's in the 250hp range the way he pulled on me.
My 01 5.9 pickup, I had nothing but programming, no hard parts, and it was easily double factory output. A 1000ft/lb clutch would chatter if I cranked everything up and had the skidloader and attachments behind me. I put 300k miles on that pickup with very few problems and only related to turning it up. I nuked an injection pump starving it for fuel. Better lift pump, problem solved.
Diesels are fricking magic.
That little 606 is popular everywhere but here. Every time you see a Mercedes 300 serving duty as a taxicab with 800k km's on the dial, it's one of the engines in that 606 family. They're just stupid reliable, overbuilt and under tuned.
