I prefer to install the thrust washer before the back half of the case and orient it through the PTO cover once the back half of the case is to the oring on the idler shaft. That way you don't risk cutting the oring with the washer when it slides over it.

And yes. The high/low fork and rid was missing from the first set of pics but I didn't forget it.

It should be ready for another couple hundred thousand miles.

Unfortunately, no start up will be happening any time soon. Surgery really took a lot out of me physically and I will need a bit of PT before I start moving around 200lbs of metal!!

Thanks guys. Haven't done much since the doctor told me 4-6 weeks of "light duty"-- i.e., no picking up 250 lb tranny/xfer case assemblies.

Small things these days until I am cleared by the doctors.

Like Jim's awesome EGR block off with new hardware.

NICE!!!! I need those to be replaced on mine when I get the manifold off to replace the gasket. I have one broken stud. is there a separate part number for the nuts?

Yes. Nuts are pre-coated with sealant from the supplier--just like driveshaft nuts.

A small update...

New studs for the down pipe.

Installed with some Loctite.

Then the manifold hardware (2 bolts from the bottom and 3 from the top with new gaskets and riser in the middle):

And then the manifold gaskets installed.... I like the little "F" with an arrow indicating the front of the engine.

New carby insulator and carby studs....

And hey, let's throw the carby on there too--makes a nice piece of serious metal artwork. Cause at this point, that's all it is.

Man, it's getting so close.... I can feel it percolating.

Trying to decide whether to mate everything together and drop in or do the engine first and then get the tranny/xfer stabbed from below?

Thoughts? I hope to have assistance either way I go, just trying to think about the most expedient and least pain-in-the-ass method.

If you have help, get it all together, then install. If you're by yourself, do it in 2 parts. It's heavy as hell either way, so be careful that it doesn't kill you.
