There is a 20% off and free shipping over $75 right now at some Toyota dealer parts online. Link below is Lewis Toyota in KS I use.

Comes to about 77 plus tax...
Might be time to order some new drums with that free shipping. I'm really out here sticking it to the man.

Edit: $297 shipped for two drums and the shoe kit. Hmmmm....

@CenTXFJ60 I should update my parking brake cable. Is that part number for a 60, or is it also an early 80 Series thing? Looks great!
There is a difference between early and late 60 series parking brake cables regarding the bracket mount on the rear axle. When you order through Toyota, I always include the VIN. This has saved me a couple times.

Cheers, James

Sharing a video I sent to the owner. I could not adjust the new rear brakes due to the broken parking brake handle. I discovered his cable was bad as well so a complete refresh of the parking brake system and she’s now good

Five bucks says this is the work of a set of tire chains slipping off.
That's what happened on mine, bent the break line exactly like this, and ruined the parking brake linkage on the back of the drum. Actually pulled the parking brake lever into the floor a bit when it wrapped around the cable.
My OSHA senses are tingling!

Hey Jim. That part # I have in the pic is for the 60. The truck I’m working on is a 87 model. I as @Dr Rock stated, there may be a split between early and late 60

Adjusted the brakes a bit and bled them a second round. Should have looked under the screen the first time but found a lot of junk in the master reservoir. Gonna pick up some more fluid tomorrow and suction this reservoir out and do a final bleed. Also noticed driving the truck today that this aftermarket AC was freezing me out so I switched to fan speed 2 and found that both 1 & 2 do not work. And low and behold…I had a new resistor switch in house. Quick swap (PITA to reach) and all 4 fan speeds now work.

Thank you Brent. That pretty much sums up my motivation…trying to figure $hit out. The reservoir came clean. Test drive and one more possible brake adjustment and then she will go home on Sunday. As with most 60’s I could keep tweaking this and that, but unfortunately I need to tweak a few things on my 60 before we head to SAS. Time is slipping away quickly.

Hey Jimmy, I met you once at a gathering at AJ's and haven't been to your shop, so I don't know how close you are to water. Are things alright where you are? Stay safe.

Hi Mark. I appreciate your note and yes, everything is good. The really heavy rain seemed to be everywhere these last two days but the north side of Canyon lake where I live. We’ve had steady rain and the only good news with all this devastation is the lake is getting some much needed water.

Thank you so much for checking in.
Jimmy

Was a great weekend in the shop. Been a long time since there’s been this much activity. Unfortunately I did not take a single pic but here are some that the guys sent me. Saturday Daniel @LETSROLLEM repurposed some OME springs and gave his 60 a much needed upgrade.
Then a new friend and his son from Fredericksburg stopped by and we built his split case onto a new H55 he bought from Georg. And crazy enough he and I have the same name so his son had us pose for a pic. And last but not least…AJ graced us with his presence and provided great assistance with the T-case. Was a true honor to have him visit the barn. I believe I counted 8 cruiser heads in the barn at one point. Super good Sunday!!! Of course I did not take any pictures

I wish I was going to SAS…

Something on my punch list since putting a Dobinsons lift on my truck this time last year was to put a lift on my camping trailer. When I built it I threw on a set of old 60 springs which I have several sets to choose from in my scrap pile. Both @BigHighBlue and I did the Dobinsons last year so both our OME systems were sitting in a 60 tub in the woods. I used a set of rear heavies and cut them from 9 leafs to 6 with the help of @LETSROLLEM who killed some time in the barn today. Turned out both my tongue and hitch are right at 24” from the ground now. Hooking it up will be the final test but even 1/2” off will be better than where I was with the trailer choppering down the highway.

Do I spy some cable and/or elockers?...
Yes sir. There’s a few cable sets in there. One set belongs to a good friend. The 80 axles are not locked. The set closest to the tractor are from a 70 series with the perch’s reset to accommodate the 40 frame. Gives me front disc, rear FF and the parking brake in the drum for a future 45 build. And they are actually factory locked housings. The previous owner kept the diffs though :(. I’ll find a solution for the day when I start that build.

Thanks for taking on Travis's monster. I'm excited to see it done. Last year we stopped somewhere in colorado and a place let us walk into the beer cooler fridge to cool the dogs off. It was too much without AC.

You got it. Was uncharted waters for me having never installed an aftermarket AC system. @sved was a lifesaver and the reason I was able to navigate the install with zero instructions the kit supplier not providing all the correct parts. His level of detail here on MUD was huge.
