Now those with a sharp eye will have noted the the tailgate is too tall. and actually sits higher than the quarter panel. So i sectioned out an inch

Also note, modified lower barn door hinges tacked in place on bottom

More soon

Good god, mate. I am in awe. Bloody well done!

This guy is restoring a FJ47 in PNG that he found out in the jungle. Unreal. I will never again complain about trouble finding parts or a lack of garage space again. Keep the pics coming, Chad!

I hear you, I thought I had it bad paying more in shipping than what the part cost being up here in Alaska..but at least I can find some stuff here and there around the state.

Seriously...Any time anyone complains about anything in one of their builds, the first response should always be "Quit your B!+chng" and a link to this thread.

This is truly incredible. Good luck on your build! Dying to see this thing up, running, and brought back to life. Once finished, you should drive it back to where you found it for a "before" and "after" photo shoot.

x2 on the before and after photos. Then get them framed side by side.

We finished cleaning the engine parts. Next we will need to use a wire brush to get the rest of the oil and grease off.

I wasn't sure what to do next so I figured it was time to print the engine repair manual

I'm wondering though how much is different in the pre 1985 book vs the post 1985? Any input?

You aren't just building a truck, your building memories that will last a lifetime with your boys. Awesome story.I'm with everyone else, please do a write up for Toyota Trails.

Wouldn't mind seeing some pic's of the Prado either.

Thanks for all the kind words they are encouraging.
Scott Here is a few pictures of my LJ78 and I think there a link to a video of a river crossing on the first page

Thanks and feel free to give advice and recommendations. We are approaching this build a little differently then if we were in the states or OZ.

This is really cool, good on you for bringing a left for dead Cruiser back to life. I second the recommendation to write an article for Toyota Trails detailing your discovery and rebuild of this Cruiser.

And I second that motion

Hi all. I'm trying to find out what the dash of my 1983 HJ47 should look like. Would any of you be willing to post pictures of your dash? It would be of great help. There was nothing left on mine except the rusty gauge cluster and glove box door. I would like to start looking for all of these parts. Recommendations and advice is welcome.

Here is a picture of each piston. What do you guys think are they to far gone??

We will hopefully get it all degreased and cleaned up tomorrow.

Sarge, someone, help the man out. In post 59, he asked or advice on the pistons. Are they salvageable?

I can't speak on the pistons but I am subscribed. One of the coolest threads I've read through on mud. Keep up the incredible work and fellowship.
