Incredible!
Please consider a write up for the Toyota Trails...

Would love to. That is one thing about PNG we have lots of interesting stories. I was talking to the po trying to get all the back ground and history. It looks pretty interesting, I just need to check a few facts before I post the story here.

Is custom made using a pair of cut down and sectioned barn doors, part of a front door and some one off bits and pieces i had to fab.
Have a heap of pics of how i went about it (about 50-60 i think ) but don't want to highjack monke south's thread with my shisit.

Needless to say there is a lot of time and head scratching in it

I think some expiation here would be helpful to my build so fire away. I think I will be going with the ute conversion.

I'm in Hagen about 3 hr from home, and found this guy (Robert). He knew where 3 of three of "these Junkers" were. This is a picture of Robert and his HJ 47

Then he took me and we got two doors with glass and a front windshield frame with the rubber. What a find!!!

Ok here goes. Note Some pics are out of order

Started by measuring the opening in the body. then tacked the doors together using some off cuts allowing for the gap around the outer edge when fitted to the rear opening

then cut them in half. just under the body line on the front and a bit higher at the back

test fitted

fitted original door catches into sides

Cut the handle section out of an old front door, and then sectioned it to make it a bit small from top to bottom.

test fitting

More after:)

Made a bit of a jig to hold it while doing the back

Tacked a bit of box tube across the back while doing the front

Made a piece to cap the top out of some 1.6mm sheet

Lock mechanism And finishing of the back

Now those with a sharp eye will have noted the the tailgate is to tall. and actually sits higher than the quarter panel. So i sectioned out an inch

Also note, modified lower barn door hinges tacked in place on bottom

More soon

love this story. Keep us posted!

That is fantastic work I'm really considering this. I saw a set of doors on a short wheel base back in the weeds.

After a quick u-turn I found the owner, a fellow HJ45 enthusiast and got permission to salvage a few parts

I love finding all of these parts. Some are missing of my rig and some are just in better shape.

This is really cool, good on you for bringing a left for dead Cruiser back to life. I second the recommendation to write an article for Toyota Trails detailing your discovery and rebuild of this Cruiser.

We started dismantling the 2H. We are in DEEP now!!

First we loaded the engine into the shed.

We just slid it on 4x4 posts from the truck to the work bench.
Then we just started pulling off all the bits
