Freshened up some hubs I picked up for use on my 65..

That's cool. Here's how I did mine. Used one of the sunvisor type remotes with 3 buttons and installed in my ashtray. double side taped to a small platform welded to the inner part of the ashtray.

Both you and @mmw68 have great ideas for this!!

I'm not sure whether I will ever do it, but what about using both?

Mmw68's pull switch and your ashtray idea... Just pull the ashtray to open/close the garage door...

Just a thought.

Whew Danny, your new engine is prettier than a speckled pup!

Opus what kind of tires are those and what's the size? I have those exact rims and I am trying to figure out what tire will work best.
Hanook MT...31 x10.5x15
Haven't got them on the road yet.
Had pretty good reviews....plus got a sweet deal.

This past weekend... I finally finished my scout power steering install. Just a few clean up things and the fender can go back on..

What Pittman arm did you use? Center to center length? Drop? I have a Scout box to put on sometime, but have held off until I can replace the long stock arm.

Great idea Mike.

I think I'll copy that (except I'll probably use a smaller straight nipple/zerk rather than that larger angled type).

Thanks Tom! Have to keep those knuckles grease up and this was the best way sans taking them apart.

My buddy taught me how to adjust the valves. Nothing like having a friend who knows about these rigs. The 40 runs so much better, it got late so next time we will set the timing and tinker with the carb for perfection(adjust the float and slow jet).

Me too.

I don't think that area of the knuckle is supposed to have grease. I could be wrong, but I can't think of why grease would be needed their. The only areas that make contact are the trunion bearings right?

From a 1983 Maintenance FSM:

I think the only reason Toyota didn't put as nipple there is because they feared the inexperienced would fill the knuckles up too much and thus blow the inner axle seals. Which is a very valid fear IMO but Mike and I know what what we're doing (and know that the space inside should never be completely filled with grease) and hope our respective vehicles don't ever end up in the hands of clueless greasemonkeys :D.

Edit: BTW - The grease is in the knuckle housing to lubricate both your swivel/kingpin/trunnion bearings and your birfield joints (CVs) .... as well as the balls and their wiper seals etc. It is important that it is neither too dry (and it tends to dry out over time so I sometames add a squirt of oil) nor too wet and goey (and this is a sign of a damaged inner axle seal).
