Looks great 78fj40mg! I have wanted to do this too but was wondering if the LED's behave the same as the OEM bulbs. Turn signals have enough resistance to trip the flasher relay and tailight/brakelights have 2 different levels of brightness? Thanks!

Thanks! I installed an LED flasher couple of weeks ago which I purchased from @Coolerman The LED flasher negates the rapid flash resistance issues which you would normally experience with a non-LED OEM flasher.

Picked up a snorkel, an f150 enclosed cone style air cleaner, a bracket for my Saginaw PS pump, and am assembling the last few needed parts for doing my power steering upgrade. Here she is. Paint is a little weathered since then, so once its safe to drive going to repaint as well.

Replaced the spark plugs and compression checked my 283. The plugs were rough (no idea how long they were in there) but the compression results were mind blowingly good.

This was pretty much the final decision maker. When it comes time to move this engine, it will just be getting resealed and dropped back in. No replacement engine or rebuild necessary. Super pumped about that.

... Should I go rear disc?? :hmm:

Going from my experience with rear disc, a profound YES! The only drawback would be if that precludes using stock rear drum E-brakes (I don't remember what axle you are using). If so, I'd still go disc and find a different way to mount E-brakes.

Finally ordered my 4" lift. Now for the waiting game...

Don,

It has a 68 factory rear. Swapping in a '86 FJ60 power train. So was thinking of going with aftermarket rear discs with a built in parking brake. IIRC the eldorado calipers. I've read both sides to these. Some guys say they work great others say they are not worth the extra money. This rig will more or less be a light duty rig, no rough wheeling and on pavement 95% of the time.

I just need to see if the kits will work on the earlier axles.

I swapped to rear discs using Monte Carlo calipers (no emergency brakes). The truck stops incredibly well, so from that standpoint, I'd say it's worth the effort.

The lack of a driveshaft parking brake in the 60 driveline makes it trickier. I've hear the el dorado emergency brake setup rigged up to a 40 is mediocre at best, but then again...so is the driveshaft drum.

Thanks, This is what I'm reading and hearing from others. I have PM'd Poser for availability. Since I don't have state inspection here in WY, I may opt for a line lock system just to have something when in need.

Took the inaugural drive today after getting the 4-spd trans and transfer case filled up with gear oil. Man oh man the 4-spd is a huge upgrade over the old 3-spd. Still need to work out some twin stick bugs as I was hoping not to trim the tranny cover, but I can't throw the high/low stick without hitting both sides of the transfer shift hole. The cooler isn't the most stable driver seat either...
