....Of course, nothing is simple - I dropped the drain plug right into the hole on my oil trap. Next thing I know, it's overflowed all over the driveway. Nice....

This was my last oil&filter change:



The silly thing is - I was trying to do things better by wearing disposable gloves (for the first time in this job) to stop the jet-black oil getting on my hands. But the gloves provided a "lack of feel" so I dropped the damned filter into the drain bucket and made a bigger mess than usual!

Continued with the body work
Bought a "garage" to park her in so I could keep working on it through the rain we're having. First time doing body work, almost as fun as doing drywall mud!

Have to finish attaching the sides down, started pouring rain so I put it off for another day!

Added some fj 17 inch black rims and AT tires so I can daily drive it. Picked these up for $ 80 (all 5) next I will paint them OEM grey. They even came with the end caps.

Painted and Herculined the new tub and in the process of reassembling the whole mess now. Went for a quick spin yesterday and there's still some things to chase down but not having to listen to the old rotten body slam against the frame anymore is really nice!

I built a small license plate holder for the spare tire carrier, finally opened up some room on the rear bumper swing out for a gas/water can set-up.

Nice day in the garage for welding!

Weatherproofed the cab and installed Dom's rear view mirror extension. Both badly needed.

It'll drop down to -20f this winter, easy, so I'm probably going to learn more about where I missed sealing cab leaks but the heater cranks hard enough to make my stomach uncomfortable now and it might be enough to keep the cab tolerable come November. We'll see.

Finished My Sill and Gas Tank Pan

I got to know the guys in the machine shop at work and with a little help on the metal brake I created a sill replacement that looks close to stock and saved me a boat load of money vs. ordering a pre-fab unit. I also replaced my gas tank pan with a home-made version since I had extra sheet metal.

I think based on what I learned on this and the fact that I still have sheet metal, I'm going to try my luck at bending metal fender flares rather than buying the cheesy plastic/fiberglass pieces.

Installed the taillights and rear wiring harness

Starting to shape up, need to take the vacumm hoses and bits apart and paint them and reassemble, but getting there

Raided the cheap pick-n-pull near my house and came away with a big York compressor (10 CFM) from an '82 Benz and a tranny cooler from a suburban for my PS system.

Cleaned up the York and performed the oil mod, next stop McMaster Carr.....Looking forward to the on-board air setup as my bro-in-law borrowed my air compressor and I have been without.

Installed re-built 2bbl. carb., new window regulators and some weatherstripping. Took it for a quick spin.......
