Finally brought my girl home from the body shop to finish piecing things together.

:frown: This morning got a flat tire on my military tires..after the hissss sound, have to change the spare tire...i guess nothing bad, head to the tire shop, left the tire there, when i came back after doing other stuff....for my surprise,,found not a nail..half pliers inside the tire:eek:
even the guy that work there can't believe that....ufff time for another tire but now i know that if that happen to a regular tire will blow out right away...:meh:

Did anyone go missing on your last wheeling adventure Jose?

Perhaps they were working under your vehicle and you took off unaware? :D

Looking sharp!

Did you ever sort out the motor rebuild business?

Who recovered your seats?
Would like to see some more photos of those :D

Again looking great man :D

Thanks, I appreciate it. I sorted out the motor rebuild business only in the sense that I paid the bill and moved on.

I bought the seat covers from SOR and had a local guy put them on for me. I blasted and powder coated the seat frames then had him cover them. Go to my blog link at bottom and I'm pretty sure there are some more pics of the seats on there.

Ugh sorry about the motor business.

Looks great though

Are the sor covers ribbed on the seat surface?

Gorgeous gb! Looking good

I've never seen anything like that, pliers in a tire?? Must've put them in a vice and dropped the rig onto them.... ;) You couldn't do that again if you tried!

Continued work on rebuilding my 8274, she's turning out well, much better than I thought! Just need to order new friction material and the lower assembly kit and do a touch more polishing before throwing it back together!

Spent 4 hours tonight working on the engine and swing away bumper. Was going fine until the water pump from summit turned out to be the wrong part. Spent 1 hour screwing around with it until I called them to ask WTF and they are sending me another one for a wapping 30 bucks less he says.

I finally finished renewing all the fluids in my 79 BJ40. Dropped the coolant, flushed the radiator, block and heater core and replaced with 50:50 Toyota Red LLC and distilled water. Also changed out a couple of heater hoses and swapped out some ****py oem hose clamps while i was at it.
After that i bolted up the "play" tyres that came with the shorty when i bought it and took her for a good long drive.

Fixed the issue that was keeping my Weber 32/36 Progressive from progressing, got the LC onto the road and opened it up nice and wide, hit 65mph with lots left to spare with my 4yr old in the seat next to me grinning ear to ear. Love the SM465 - synchronized gears rock!

One last small brake issue to tackle (auto-braking when I've been driving too long?) and she's ready for DD duty...

Still cleaning and figuring out how to get the radio working.....FJ40 has had a shelf installed above the windshield (with a cb and speaker there). Gonna start de-greasing the drivetrain tomorrow....any good ideas on how to do that?

Hi All:

Despite a heavy dose of sunshine & beer induced lethargy I managed to get out to
the garage and work on the FJ40. Installed the rear output shaft seal, then assembled the t-case e-brake using shoes that Georg @ Valley Hybrids provided (thanks again Georg!) then realized I was out of Blue Locktite! Blah!! :frown:

Maybe get it all bolted back up tomorrow afternoon!

Regards,

Alan

learned how to take a leaf out of the 2 rear springs (had a really stiff ride!).... took the 40 for a spin to see if we needed to take 2 leafs out of the front, felt fine, what an improvement!

took it to this little sand quarry, up one hill, and another, then down what looked like a gentle slope when all of a sudden, woah, bam! big drop after some sand was taken out...which we didn't notice

that was on 2H, locked the front hubs, then 4Low, and off we went...
vid

(and i guess i should change the PS belt soon too!)

It cranked

Hello All,
After sitting for over 2 years Jared, Josh's brother, and I replaced coil/distributor cap/roter/condensor/starter/new battery/plug wires. It cranked and gave birth to a very large cloud of white smoke. After a few minutes the smoke cleared.
Now the work and fun really begins.
