Saw this over the weekend.

I swore up and down I wasn’t going to use these sliding side windows. They really took the brunt of the weather when this thing was stored behind the helibase. Crusted with dirt, two layers of gawd awful purple tint; ugly as sin. View attachment 3754152View attachment 3754153View attachment 3754154
Was looking at a couple different options but I always came back to how nice it was to be able to slide them open in the summer to get some air flow. SOR says they have them for sale but a quick search didn’t show them on their website, just the 60 ones. There was a pair for sale in Texas a couple years ago but they wanted $800 for them, which I thought was pretty extreme. So I got up this morning and started cleaning them up. Once the tint was off they started looking presentable and 6 hours later I had them installed. View attachment 3754155
They still look like trailer windows but at least they aren’t purple. View attachment 3754168
On a different note, I was looking at a thread by a guy that had built a really nice 40 buggy. It was light blue with a copper colored bezel and the best looking side stripe I have seen on an FJ40. Very retro looking. Anyway, I can’t find it for the life of me and I wanted to ask him where he got it.
I need something to break up the many shades of beige I have going on. I told my wife I was going to name it ‘50 shades of beige’. She didn’t get it.
It looks good to me. Very similar to the windows I have on my FJ43 that were custom made here in Bogota. Great job, enjoy the breeze.

Getting closer to mostly stock-ish carburetor and linkage. Thanks to my patron saint @OlYellr for the parts and to @mattressking for the knowledge.

Drove my Son to school, my daughter to the public library, got gas after a quick tune. Went to my son’s football game and got to exercise my civic duty.

They wouldn’t let me vote in my LandCruiser, fascists…

Back to fixing things today. The wiper system on mine was inop with broken plastic retainer bushing things in the linkage. City Racer had a good used linkage and I installed that. Things were still iffy, so I took the motor apart and it is in really bad shape. Possibly the PO ran it with busted linkage. Two of the brush holders were melted down. Anyway, back to City Racer. He has new motors for $250. Seems reasonable. I got that today and put it in. Wow, everything is working well and smooth.

My new tall skinnies arrived.

Took it for a test drive and the wobble I was dealing with in the rear end disappeared. Time to start enjoying it.

The profile looks really nice…are these 15” or 16” wheels

It’s a baby one or a huge land cruiser

Added a few new tools to the auto electrical arsenal: First up is a Klein Ratcheting Crimper Frame Model# VDV200-010 and a 10 to 20 AWG Open Crimping Die Set for making open barrel non-insulated terminal connectors that we use with our OEM plastic terminals.

Also picked up a pair of APTIV Electrical Terminal Removal Tool for easier removal of 56 Series terminals.
