Keep in mind that the cold spell the rest of the nation is getting we've been enjoying for about 10 days now. I really couldn't tell you the last time we've been above 20F much less above the freezing mark. Winter is relentless here.
What weight oil do you run Ryan for those cold winter temps?

Depends on what is on sale at the local auto store, usually Rotella synthetic blend, 10-30, same stuff I run in my diesel Dodge.

Drove Lola for the first time yesterday, also my first time driving manual, 1968 LC next to my uncles’ 1969 Camaro Pace Car.

Unfortunately got a crack in this 71’s fan. Going to need to drill the end of it, weld up and grind back then paint.

The orange fan is original for a 71 is it not?

Cheers

Late last night... As I recently put a new OEM 4 core in the ‘76 just in last few months and one in my ‘78 about two years ago. And seeing what Rick recently went thru with his radiator I put in 4 new cushions on the ‘76 and have 4 more coming for the ‘78 as well. Some were missing, others were makeshift.

My updates are over the past couple weeks when I was able to get the garage warm enough to work out there, got some good progress on some fronts I have put off for awhile.

First need was to replace the boots on the tie rods cause they were way far gone and in dire need of some attention.

Second was while I was in there I decided to dust off the kit I bought long ago and rebuild the Center arm, looked like all that was bad was the bottom felt but it is all good for another 42 years.

After that I decided to install my QuickHinges that I bought long ago. I have been procrastinating on it because I was hesitant I could get the top bolts out and back in. After watching @BenjaminCA install his on Project Wrongway I figured if he can do it then I can. I have to say they were not fun but when you figure out a technique they come out pretty easy. Mine still had all the seam sealer holding them tight but a little pry on the outside and it came loose.

While I had the doors off I continued my Reductive - Preservation of Patina - Additive method of paint to the doors. One side was a bit too far gone so I added a bit more and blended it together with the original. I like the outcome and don't want a full repaint. This one will be panel by panel on how it is finished. Also re glued the gaskets on both doors.

I also continued to pick away at the dash, this little razorblade has worked wonders on this thin green stuff.

Please confirm it takes 4 of the 90540-10022 cushions to do the support rods? I don't have any cushions on mine currently. Thank you.

It reached negative 15 degrees F on Tuesday morning. You guys from the North can have your weather back. Brushed the snow off the Bimini top as it was sagging pretty bad. The 40 has been sitting for awhile. Lost oil pressure, changed out oil pump and pressure came back. Then started losing pressure again. I haven't had time to tear into it.

Looks like the dash is holding up well. 👍👍
Do you have coil overs on the front?

Krenie,

Yeah the dash pad is pretty tough.

Yes, I put axles with E-Lockers out of a 97 fzj80 in the front and back. I kept leaf springs on the rear but utilized the coils in the front, moved the front axle like 9 to 11 inches forward (Too long ago, can't remember). I do like the wider stance especially when on a hill sideways. The Full Floating axles are probably one of the best mods I've done, that and the Orion transfer case.

@SNLC Did you order new castle nuts with the new shocks? If so, what did you order?

I documented in my thread that I recently ordered eight 94130-61200 with my shocks, but they turned out to be regular nuts and not castle nuts. Was curious if you had a part number or a source, as I'm interested in getting the correct nuts for me new shocks.

I did not replace them, I reused the old ones.

Cheers
