Lizard Skin was actually very easy to spray and very forgiving. My order was:
1. DTM Epoxy primer
2. Seam sealer on any gaps such as around the bottom side of the rear sill
3. another layer of primer over the areas that had seam sealer on it
4. After that I roughed up the primer a bit with a scotch rite just to ensure adhesion
5. gave it a quick wipe with acetone to clean it.
6. Two layers of Lizard skin sound control. Let it dry for 5 or so days. Used the gun from the kit they sell.
7. Two layers of lizard skin ceramic insulation. Let it dry for another 5 or so days
8. Lizard skin top coat.
9. 2K green paint.

in terms of performance, I cant speak to the ceramic insulation yet, but the sound control is really amazing. When I knocked on the tub before it sounded like an ill-tuned bell, Now it sounds like I am knocking on plywood with a quite thud...I thought it would work good based off of everything I read, and so far it has surpassed my expectations for sound deadening - it is really impressive stuff.

Yeah I’ve heard good things but all of their examples show folks spraying it on the inside of cars because it will be under the carpet. Hopefully it holds up under the rig. What is the top coat? What I would ultimately like to do is lizard skin topped with a bed liner underneath but I’m concerned I’ll have like 1/2” of paint hanging off the bottom when all is said and done.

it dries pretty thin. I would say the thickness of all the coats mentioned above is less than an 1/8th of an inch give or take based on the texture. *edit* just measured and total thickness is closer to a 16th of an inch.

I used the top coat that is sold by the lizard skin folks. LizardSkin TopCoat 3010-1 I figured I should use the stuff they sell so that would stick well. That said after spraying the sound control and ceramic insulation, I noticed that it is porous enough that I am pretty sure any bed liner would not have any problem adhering.

It feels pretty tough to me, but I have not stress tested it yet with a hammer or blade. They also mention that it can be used in wheel wells and under the body. As long as it holds up well enough to gravel and such I will be happy.

Refinished the transfer change valve.
Transfer Change Before After.webp

Was there a reason you bent that particular line that way?
Or were you just showing off?

Great work tho!!

I installed 2 degree shins under the front axle. I restored a 68 FJ40 2 years ago and reused a skyjacker 2” lift I had bought for the rig in 98. I didn’t have the death wobble, but the steering wouldn’t return the center. After I finished the restoration, I had the alignment checked and the caster was at 0 degrees. Since I had a Saginaw box I figure 2 degrees wouldn’t hurt. Spent 8 hours getting the shims in and after driving it, maybe a slight improvement over 55, but nothing dramatic.

The shims were steel from WFO products and were milled to accept the spring center bolts. Also replaced the spring center bolts with ATS bolts with a 1/4” extension.

Using a newly sourced white and red pigment product recommended by my special friend and consultant at the Baltimore visionary Art museum , has made
Things ........?

Well better :)

There is nothing “ better “ of a feeling inside when I take. a 31 year old original land cruiser pull switch knob or control cable knob and make it simply “ alive again “ to and for its future home and owner operator to use , enjoy , and serve for the foreseeable future and future generations of land cruisers owners and drivers to be ,
